HC dismisses plea in murder attempt case

Bhopal/Jabalpur: The Madhya Pradesh High Court dismissed a petition filed by a person challenging the framing of charges under section 307 of the IPC for attempted murder, despite no serious injuries being inflicted on the complainants in the case. The court stated that not only the seriousness of injuries but also the intent of the assailant and the circumstances of the case are taken into account while framing charges against an accused. Prince Pratap Singh and some other accused from Panna, in an attempted murder case, challenged the charges framed against them under section 307 of the IPC in their petition. Medical reports of the complainants showed that the complainants in the case did not receive any grievous injuries. The prosecution argued that the assailants broke into the house of Pradeep Patel on Jan 28, 2024, and attacked him with lathis and rods. They also attacked his father and other members in his house. The bench of Justice D D Bansal held that charges are also framed in view of the intent of the accused.
