Nigerian nat'l held with drugs worth 35 crore
Navi Mumbai: The Bengaluru unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau has apprehended a Nigerian woman at Panvel railway station and seized narcotics worth Rs 35 crore from her, an official said. "The NCB officials from Bengaluru had received a tip-off that a Nigerian national was travelling from Faridabad to Panvel with a consignment of drugs. Acting on this information, they tracked her movement and apprehended her at Panvel railway station today," DCP (Central Zone) of GRP, Pradnya Jedge said. pti

NCB apprehends Nigerian woman at railway station; seizes drugs from her
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Thane, Jul 18 (PTI) The Bengaluru unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has apprehended a Nigerian woman at Panvel in Maharashtra's Raigad district and seized narcotics from her, an official said. The woman was caught at the Panvel railway station on Friday based on intelligence inputs. Addressing a press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) of the Government Railway Police GRP, Pradnya Jedge, said, 'The NCB officials from Bengaluru had received a tip-off that a Nigerian national was travelling from Faridabad (in Haryana) to Panvel with a consignment of drugs. Acting on this information, they tracked her movement and apprehended her at Panvel railway station today." The accused will be produced before a local magistrate for a transit remand for further legal action in Bengaluru, she said. When asked about the nature and quantity of the seized contraband, DCP Jedge said, 'As legal formalities are still going on, the precise details of the quantity of drugs and related documentation will be disclosed once the procedure is completed." Sources, however, said around 3.5 kilograms of narcotics has been recovered from the accused, with an estimated value of Rs 35 crore in the international market. The match is set to begin at 7.30pm, and heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic is expected in the surrounding areas. As there is no parking available at the stadium, spectators are strongly urged to use public transport , especially the suburban railway network . Veer Nariman Road, from Churchgate Junction to Sundarmahal Junction, will be closed to vehicular traffic as required. Alternate routes: Commuters can use these suggested routes From Churchgate Junction, take Maharshi Karve Road to Pandit Paluskar Chowk (Opera House), turn left towards Vinoli Chowpatty, and continue to your destination. Alternatively, travel from Ramdev Potdar Junction (C.T.O) via Chafekar Bandhu Chowk (O.C.S), proceed on M.G. Road, pass through Shyamaldas Junction, and cross Meghdut Bridge (Princess Street) to reach your location. Road (Marine Drive) are instructed to use the designated pavements and refrain from walking on the main carriageway. Private vehicles must drop passengers only at the designated drop-off points along N.S. Road. U-turns on N.S. Road will be prohibited from two hours before the start of the match until two hours after its conclusion. Motorists may make U-turns at Murali Deora Chowk and Mafatlal Junction during this period.
