The two-day mega placement drive, Alva's Pragati 2025, concluded on Saturday, with 2,873 candidates securing jobs on the spot at Alva's Education Foundation in Moodbidri, according to the foundation. The 15th edition of the job fair witnessed participation from 288 companies and saw a footfall of 14,245 job aspirants from across the country. A total of 260 companies shortlisted 3,734 candidates for the final rounds of selection. On the second day alone, 1,513 job seekers took part in the recruitment process, a release said. Several reputed firms offered competitive packages across the sectors. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia-based leading industrial conglomerate Expertise recruited 37 candidates with a package of ₹9 lakh an annum. Global technology and services company, Concentrix, offered ₹5 lakh an annum to five candidates, while Mumbai-based global logistics conglomerate, Allcargo Logistics, hired nine candidates, with packages ranging from ₹3 to ₹5 lakh an annum. Tejaswini Groups selected 11 candidates for ₹6 lakh an annum, while Infosys BPM recruited 79 candidates. Fortune Groups, a Dubai-based hospitality firm, selected five candidates with packages between ₹5 to ₹8.75 lakh an annum. Leading Edtech firm Codeyoung extended offers to 20 candidates with salaries ranging from ₹4.36 to ₹8.36 lakh an annum, and K12 Techno Services recruited 42 candidates at ₹6 lakh an annum. Prominent healthcare provider Narayana Hrudayalaya selected 43 candidates and shortlisted 28 more for final interviews. Zee Entertainment also shortlisted 11 candidates for its final selection round, the release added.

Events like this not only provide opportunities but restore dignity to job seekers and empower them.' He praised the institution for its societal vision and for conducting the fair without commercial intent. The event, in its latest edition, attracted 12,732 job seekers on the opening day, with 285 companies participating. Of these aspirants, 11,509 had registered online in advance, while 2,307 more registered at the venue. Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Dr P.L. Dharma noted a shift in hiring trends, highlighting that employers today actively seek qualified candidates rather than waiting passively for applications. Former Minister Ramanath Rai unveiled an AI-based app designed to match candidates with suitable jobs based on their skills and qualifications. Several coastal entrepreneurs—including Praveen Kumar Shetty, KS Sheikh Karnire, Ravish Kamath, Rohan Monteiro, and Suyog Shetty—were honoured for creating global employment ecosystems. The programme was presided over by MLA Umanath Kotian and saw participation from political and academic dignitaries including Dr M Mohan Alva, Nalin Kumar Kateel, and MLC Bhoje Gowda.

Mangaluru: The 15th edition of Alva's Pragati, a two-day mega job fair organised by Alva's Education Foundation, Moodbidri, will showcase an increased presence of companies from the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors. This year, local IT companies with more than 100 core engineering jobs are part of it. So far, over 285 companies from various sectors have registered and will offer 15,930 jobs, said Vivek Alva, trustee of the foundation. The two-day event is set to take place at Alva's College, Moodbidri, starting Aug 1, Alva said, addressing reporters on Friday. The event serves as a significant platform connecting talented job seekers with leading employers across various industries. Since its inception in 2007, the job fair has facilitated employment opportunities for rural candidates through the foundation's CSR activities, conducting free mega placement drives. To date, 61,517 candidates were shortlisted, with 36,151 securing job offers, said Alva. Mangalore: In a major push towards employment generation in semi-urban and rural India, Alva's Education Foundation is hosting the 15th edition of Alva's Pragati, a mega multi-sector job fair, on August 1 and 2 at Vidyagiri, near Mangaluru. Launched in 2007, the initiative has created a robust employment ecosystem for aspirants from less-privileged and rural backgrounds. So far, Alva's Pragati has enabled 36,151 confirmed job placements and over 61,500 candidates have been shortlisted by various companies for final rounds. This year, the fair has attracted 285+ companies offering 15,930+ job opportunities. The sectors include Information Technology, IT-enabled services, healthcare, pharma, banking, retail, hospitality, telecom, education, media, NGOs, and manufacturing. Firms are open to hiring graduates, postgraduates, engineers, paramedics, diploma holders, ITI-certified candidates, PUC, SSLC, and even freshers with basic qualifications.
