Three-year-old boy dies after ambulance gets stuck in traffic
Kannur: A three-year-old boy died after the ambulance carrying him was stuck in a massive traffic jam due to a temple festival at Kottiyoor on Saturday.
Prajul, son of Prajosh and Bindu of Palchuram, who was suffering from a severe brain related ailment died on the way to the Mananthavady medical college hospital in Wayanad.
Reportedly, the ambulance was delayed for over five-hours, resulting in a tragic end for the child.
Prajosh said he called the ambulance of Kottiyoor primary health centre to ferry his son to the medical college hospital in the afternoon. But the ambulance took around three-and-a-half hours to reach his house, when the route usually takes just 10 minutes. Further, the vehicle was stuck in heavy traffic for over two-hours on its way to the medical college. He said the doctors claimed that they could have saved the child's life, if he was brought earlier.
Due to the annual Kottiyoor Vysakha Mahotsavam, there was a massive crowd, causing a 15-km traffic jam.
