Electrician electrocuted during Independence Day preparations at Hyderabad hotel
A 23-year-old electrician died of electrocution while decorating Independence Day arrangements at a hotel in the city, after allegedly being forced to work without adequate safety precautions.
The deceased was identified as Prakash Lenka an electrician who worked at Lemon Ridge Hotel.
The case came to light following a complaint lodged by the victim's cousin Prakash Swain, stating that the hotel management had instructed Lenka to decorate flowers on an iron rod for the celebrations, ignoring his warnings about the risk of electrocution. 'He warned the management that there was a risk of electric shock, but his concerns were ignored,' said the complainant.
While carrying out the work, Lenka came into contact with an 11 KV live wire and collapsed after receiving a shock. He was rushed to a private hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead on arrival.
A case was booked and an investigation is underway.
