Rs 15 crore bank heist: Hunt for robbers enters second day

Jabalpur: A day after a Rs 15 crore daylight robbery at a private bank in Khitola, police teams are yet to track down the culprits. Over 20 teams have been deployed across the region, but the gang remains at large. Jabalpur range IG Pramod Verma visited the ESAF Small Finance Bank branch on Tuesday to review the investigation. The robbery took place around 8.50 am on Monday, when three helmeted men entered the branch under Khitola police station limits. Only four employees were inside. Two robbers threatened staff at gunpoint, while the third went straight to the locker room. Within 20 minutes, they had seized about 15 kg of gold and Rs 5 lakh in cash. Two accomplices waited outside on motorcycles, and the group split up to escape in different directions. IG Verma said CCTV footage from the bank and along the escape routes was being analysed. "Over 20 teams are working on the case. All district borders have been sealed. The modus operandi appears similar to the Nov 26, 2022, robbery at a Manappuram Gold Loan branch in Katni, which was later traced to an interstate gang," he said. Jabalpur DIG Atul Singh said the suspects headed via highway routes towards Majholi–Indrana, where they changed clothes before vanishing from camera range. "We have key leads from CCTV and will nab them soon," Singh told TOI. Sources said the case has triggered speculation that an organised gang from outside the state may be involved, given the precision, speed, and similarity to past high-profile gold loan robberies in the region. The branch had no security guard, making it a soft target. A source say the timing and execution — hitting a branch without guards, right after holidays when roads are relatively empty — mirror the 2022 Katni robbery. In that case, masked gunmen stormed the Manappuram Gold Loan branch in Bargawan, and looted 16 kg of gold and Rs 3 lakh in minutes. Deploy guards, ensure free access for all to park maintained by school, NGT tells Noida Authority

Noida: NGT has asked Noida Authority to deploy its guards at Gandhi Park, the greenbelt leased to DPS Noida in 1983 for maintenance. It has also asked the school to continue maintaining the greenbelt and not use it as personal property. Ruling on a petition by the RWA of Sector 30, the tribunal tasked the UP Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) with finalising environmental compensation against the school for violating air quality management commission guidelines. On May 19, the tribunal ruled in favor of residents in a case filed by Pramod Verma, president of RWA, Sector 30. The tribunal, led by chairperson, Justice Prakash Srivastava, judicial member, Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi, and expert member, Afroz Ahmad, stated that residents can freely access the park and green belt without any interference from the school. "Noida authority should deploy its own guards in place of the guards deployed by the school and ensure that the opening and closing time of the park is uniform for all," the tribunal said. Verma filed an application with the NGT seeking cancellation of DPS Noida's lease for failing to maintain the green belt as required. Talking to TOI, Verma alleged that DPS Noida used the area as private property instead."Forget about protecting trees; they dumped mud, loose soil, and construction material on large parts of the said green belt. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? In violation of the terms of the agreement, the school initially removed all the water bodies and is now extracting groundwater for the construction of their building," he said. Verma raised these issues with a bunch of photographs filed before the tribunal in 2024. NGT took up Verma's complaint in May 2024 and impleaded member secretary UPPCB, CEO Noida, district magistrate GB Nagar, and DPS Noida through its administrator while hearing the case in May 2024. Following tribunal orders, UPPCB conducted joint inspections in July 2024 and Feb 2025. The inspection revealed violations of environmental laws, prompting UPPCB to issue a show-cause notice to DPS Noida. The notice proposed environmental compensation of Rs 15,000 per day from the start of construction for breaching the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) guidelines in the NCR. Additionally, the school faces a Rs 1.2 lakh penalty for failing to register the construction project on the govt portal. Expressing surprise that the PCB has not submitted its final decision concerning the show cause issued back in Sept 2024, the NGT asked the commission to expedite action after hearing the school's explanation. The tribunal further noted that since the UPPCB found some maintenance work being done by the school during the second visit in Feb, it was evident that some effort was being made. "We find that intermittent lapses are committed by the respondent, the DPS school, in maintaining the park. Therefore, we direct the respondent to properly maintain the park and comply with all the conditions of the allotment/adoption letter dated Sept 5, 1983, and the adoption rules," the tribunal ruled.

These 3 Officers Will Probe Minister's Remarks Against Colonel Qureshi

Bhopal: Following the Supreme Court's directions, Madhya Pradesh police has formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate state minister Vijay Shah's objectionable remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who made headlines during the government's briefings on Operation Sindoor. The SIT comprises Inspector General of Police Pramod Verma, Deputy Inspector General Kalyan Chakravarty and Superintendent of Police Vahini Singh. This comes a day after the top court rejected Mr Shah's apology for his remarks and asked Madhya Pradesh police to set up an SIT to investigate the case against him. The court told the minister that his apology was not sincere. "What is that apology? What kind of apology have you tendered? There is some meaning of apology. Sometimes people use docile language only to wriggle out of proceedings, and sometimes they shed crocodile tears. What kind of apology is yours? You want to give the impression that the court had asked you to apologise. What prevented you from making a sincere apology for your crass comments till now?" Justice Surya Kant said. The court specified that the three-member SIT that probes the matter must have a woman officer and an IG-rank officer must head it. It had also said that IPS officers part of the SIT must be from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, but must be originally from outside the state. Pramod Verma is now posted as Inspector General (IG), Sagar range, Kalyan Chakravarty as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), SAF, Bhopal, and Vahini Singh as Superintendent of Police, Dindori. The Supreme Court has said the SIT will file its first status report on May 28. The Madhya Pradesh minister made headlines due to a viral video of him making objectionable remarks about Colonel Qureshi at a public event. Mr Shah had referred to the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 innocents dead. "They undressed Hindus and killed them, and Modi ji sent their sister to return the favour. We couldn't undress them, so we sent a daughter from their community... You widowed sisters of our community, so a sister of your community will strip you naked," the Tribal Affairs minister said, referring to the senior Army officer. The Madhya Pradesh High Court took note of the remarks and ordered the registration of an FIR. The court said "sister of terrorists" remark could affect religious harmony and added that such remarks may create a perception that, irrespective of an individual's service to the nation, they may face derogatory treatment solely due to their faith. Following the uproar over his remarks, the minister expressed regret and said he respected Colonel Qureshi more than his sister.
