Report sought from Feroke police over escape of POCSO case accused
District Police Chief (Kozhikode city) T. Narayanan has sought a report from the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Feroke) on the circumstances that led to the escape of an Assam native from police custody on Wednesday (August 13, 2025).
The report was sought on Thursday (August 14, 2025) morning, immediately after tracking Prasanjith, the accused, who was reportedly found hiding in the washroom of a government school in Feroke.
The 20-year-old escaped from police custody with his handcuffs around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. He remained untraced even after several hours of intensified search. The cooperation of local police stations had been sought to find him.
Prasanjith was nabbed for his alleged involvement in abducting the minor daughter of another migrant worker from Perumukham in Kozhikode city. The two were traced with the timely intervention of the Bengaluru cyber cell on Tuesday (August 12, 2025). He has been charged under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
