Jagan alleges ‘undeclared emergency' in state
Nellore: YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the TDP-led coalition government of creating an undeclared emergency-like situation in the state by misusing police to file false cases against opposition leaders. During a one-day tour in Nellore district, Jagan visited former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy at Nellore central prison to offer support and later met the family of former Kovur MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy at their residence in Sujathamma Colony. While Govardhana Reddy is in jail for his role in illegal mining, Prasanna Kumar Reddy is facing criminal charges for making derogatory comments against Kovuru MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy. Addressing the media, Jagan warned Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of 'severe consequences' for promoting vindictive politics, including orchestrating attacks on opposition leaders' homes. 'Criticism is common in politics, but sending armed mobs to attack Prasanna Kumar Reddy's house is clear evidence of the TDP's 'red book constitution' in Andhra Pradesh,' he said. Jagan questioned the government's deployment of a large police force, road blockades, and unprecedented restrictions to prevent people from meeting him. He accused Naidu of using these tactics to divert attention from unfulfilled election promises. The YSRCP chief alleged that Naidu derives 'sadistic pleasure' by filing false cases to keep opposition leaders, including Kakani Govardhan Reddy, in jail for extended periods. He claimed that despite a village revenue officer's statement denying illegal quarrying at Rusthum Mines in Tatiparthi village, Podalakuru mandal, the government falsely implicated Govardhan Reddy in 14 cases, including an illegal mining case and an SC/ST case, as part of its vendetta politics. Jagan further alleged that YSRCP leaders such as Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Jogi Ramesh, Nandigama Suresh, Pennelli Ramakrishna Reddy, and others have been targeted. He claimed PV Midhun Reddy was jailed due to a past college rivalry between his father, Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, and Naidu. Condemning the TDP's use of foul language against YSRCP leaders like RK Roja, Rajani, and ZP Chairperson Harika, Jagan asked, 'If we retaliate in the same manner, where will democracy stand?' He said public discontent, noting that students have not received fee reimbursements for six quarters, farmers are denied MSP, and Aarogyasri dues remain unpaid, depriving the poor of quality healthcare. Jagan vowed to hold all corrupt individuals accountable, stating, 'No one involved in wrongdoing will be spared, regardless of their position'.

Andhra Pradesh high court denies anticipatory bail to former YSRCP MLA in derogatory comments case
1 2 Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh high court on Wednesday denied granting anticipatory bail to former YSRCP MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy in the case registered against him for making derogatory comments against Kovvur MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy. However, the high court directed the police to follow the guidelines set out by the supreme court in the Arnesh Kumar case, as all the sections included in the FIR are punishable with less than seven years of imprisonment. Prasanna Kumar Reddy moved the high court seeking anticipatory bail after police registered a case against him pursuant to the complaint lodged by Prashanti Reddy. Arguing on behalf of Prasanna Kumar Reddy, senior counsel O Manohar Reddy said that the sections included by the police do not apply to the petitioner and, even otherwise, all the sections are punishable with less than seven years of imprisonment. He said that the comments of Prasanna Kumar Reddy were taken out of context and also pointed out at the mob attack on his house. He said that the police did not register a case even after a complaint was lodged over the vandalisation of his house. Arguing on behalf of the police, public prosecutor Menda Lakshmi Narayana said that the petitioner made derogatory remarks against the woman MLA. He released another video justifying his comments the next day, which shows the conduct of the petitioner and his intent to repeat the offence. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Villas in Dubai | Search Ads Get Info Undo He said that the Arnesh Kumar guidelines do not prevent the investigation officer from arresting the accused, as it is left to the discretion of the investigating officer whether to arrest an accused or not based on various other parameters. Considering the arguments on both sides, the high court said that granting anticipatory bail would send wrong signal in this type of cases. However, as the sections in the FIR are punishable with less than seven years, the high court directed the police to follow the Arnesh Kumar guidelines and disposed of the petition.

Jagan Mohan Reddy condemns attack on former MLA Prasanna Kumar; blames TDP for orchestrating violence
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly condemned the alleged attack on former MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy, accusing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of unleashing a wave of political violence across Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Mr. Jagan said the TDP regime has become synonymous with lawlessness, citing that it has led to three murders, six attempted murders and twelve assaults in a short span. Referring to the latest incident as a 'murder attempt,' Mr. Jagan said TDP-affiliated goons stormed the residence of Prasanna Kumar Reddy in Kovuru, SPSR Nellore district, creating havoc and terrifying even his elderly mother. Mr. Jagan expressed grave concern over the nature of the attack, stating that it was carried out with the clear intent to eliminate a senior political figure, who had served six terms as MLA. He alleged that the attack happened in the presence of the police, raising serious questions about law enforcement under the current administration. Calling it an 'unprecedented political attack,' Mr. Jagan said such targeted violence against a prominent leader is unheard of in Telugu States. He accused the Chief Minister of 'orchestrating such attacks' through his party's rowdy elements, describing him as someone who 'derives sadistic pleasure' from the unrest. He further alleged that the attack was deliberately timed to divert public attention away from Jagan's visit to cyclone-hit mango farmers in Chittoor district. 'This was a calculated conspiracy to ensure that my tour and the issues of the people are completely overshadowed by manufactured political drama,' he claimed. Mr. Jagan issued a stern warning to the TDP, asserting that violence and political vendettas cannot suppress the voice of the Opposition. 'You cannot silence us through intimidation and orchestrated attacks. The people will see through this,' he added.
