Adikavi Nannaya University creates record with grand celebration of International Yoga Day

Rajahmundry: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) marked a historic moment on the occasion of Yogandhra International Day of Yoga Celebrations 2025 by organizing one of the largest yoga gatherings in Andhra Pradesh. A total of 16,123 students from over 400 constituent and affiliated colleges participated in the mass yoga demonstration held at the AKNU grounds. The event, led by Prof. S. Prasanna Sree, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of AKNU, began at 8:00 AM and aimed to promote the values of health, harmony, and self-discipline through yoga. The Yogasanas were demonstrated by Raparthi Foundation. In a proud achievement, the event was officially recorded by the Telugu Book of Records as the largest yoga performance by students in the state, making it a milestone in the history of AKNU and the Yogandhra campaign. Prof. Prasanna Sree addressed the gathering and reflected on the origins of this global celebration, first observed on 21st June 2015, following the sincere efforts of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi ji, who proposed the idea at the United Nations General Assembly. 'Yoga is not just about physical fitness. It promotes a healthy mind, a balanced life, and a conscious way of living. The event held as part of the Yogandhra-2025, International Yoga Day celebrations, was led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Prasanna Sree. The yoga session began at 8:00 a. m. and trained yoga experts from the Raparthi Foundation demonstrated the asanas. 'The Telugu Book of Records officially recognised the event as the largest yoga performance by students in the State. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Prasanna Sree said: 'It is a historic milestone for AKNU and the the Yogandhra campaign. Yoga is not just about physical fitness. It promotes a healthy mind, a balanced life, and a conscious way of living.'
