AKNU's mega yoga event enters Telugu Book of Records
More than 16,123 students from over 400 constituent and affiliated colleges participated in a mass yoga demonstration held at the Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) grounds near Rajamahendravaram city on Wednesday.
The event held as part of the Yogandhra-2025, International Yoga Day celebrations, was led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Prasanna Sree. The yoga session began at 8:00 a. m. and trained yoga experts from the Raparthi Foundation demonstrated the asanas.
'The Telugu Book of Records officially recognised the event as the largest yoga performance by students in the State.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Prasanna Sree said: 'It is a historic milestone for AKNU and the the Yogandhra campaign. Yoga is not just about physical fitness. It promotes a healthy mind, a balanced life, and a conscious way of living.'

Vijayawada: As many as 193 individuals emerged as winners in the State Level Yoga Competitions, held across 42 themes in 15 categories over three days from June 16 to June 18 in Vijayawada. Health minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav, rourism minister Kandula Durgesh, Ayush director K Dinesh Kumar, secondary health director Dr A Siri, and NTR district collector presented the prizes to the winners at the awards ceremony organised at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada on Wednesday. The three-day state level yoga competitions featured categories such as the Surya Namaskar Challenge, Yoga Skit, Yoga Quiz, Yoga Essay, Yoga Short Film, Yoga Photography, Yoga Painting, Yoga Song, and Yoga Display. Speaking on the occasion, minister Yadav said that yoga is a rich cultural heritage of India. The govt, aiming to make yoga an integral part of people's lives and raise awareness about its benefits, is organising a month-long Yogandhra awareness initiative in the state. He said the winners of the State Level Yoga Competition will perform yoga asanas alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the International Yoga Day celebrations, which will be held at RK Beach Road in Visakhapatnam on June 21. Times of India senior photojournalist G Mahesh won the first prize in the senior category of the State Level Yoga Photography competition. Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, Kandula Durgesh, and Lakshmisha presented the award to Mahesh during the awards ceremony.

AP DSC 2025 exam for June 20, 21 deferred; fresh admit cards next week
AP DSC 2025 Exam Rescheduled to July 1 and 2: The Andhra Pradesh Department of School Education has revised the exam dates for the DSC (District Selection Committee) 2025 teacher recruitment examination. Initially scheduled for June 20 and 21, the exams will now be held on July 1 and 2. As per the official notification on the AP DSC website, the change has been made to avoid logistical disruptions due to large-scale arrangements for International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam on June 21. Updated hall tickets reflecting the revised dates and centres will be available for download from June 25 on the official Mega DSC–2025 portal at The ongoing AP DSC recruitment aims to fill 16,347 teaching vacancies across the state. Online applications for the posts were invited from April 20 to May 15. The recruitment process includes Computer-Based Tests (CBTs) scheduled between June 6 and July 6. Of the total vacancies, 14,088 are at the district level, while 2,259 are for state or zonal level positions. The Mega DSC recruitment and the implementation of an annual job calendar were among the promises made in the run-up to the 2024 elections by the newly formed government. According to media reports, the DSC exam for the School Assistant post in Social Studies, held on Monday, recorded a high attendance rate of 95.11% statewide. Out of 38,243 registered candidates, 36,372 appeared for the exam, which was conducted across 227 centres in Andhra Pradesh. Anantapur district registered the highest attendance in the morning session at 97.84%, while Chittoor district saw 97.98% attendance in the afternoon session.
