Jr NTR-Prashanth Neel film 'Dragon' to be renamed: Report
Picture Credit: X Jr NTR 's mega upcoming film, tentatively called 'NTRNEEL', and has been heavily rumoured to be named, 'Dragon'. Directed by Prashanth Neel , latest news reports suggest that the makers are now actively searching for a new title for the film. Why the title 'Dragon' is being dropped According to a report by Pinkvilla, the problem arises because 'Dragon' is already the title of a Tamil film released in 2025, which was also dubbed into Telugu. Since both versions are available to Telugu-speaking audiences, keeping the same title could cause confusion among fans and viewers. More importantly, the title 'Dragon' is already registered, and film industry rules prevent reusing the same title within a short period. To avoid any legal complications and maintain clear branding, the production team has decided to look for a fresh and unique name for the project. Given Jr NTR's massive fanbase in the Telugu film industry, the makers are being extra cautious. They want a title that not only stands out but also reflects the scale and grandeur of the film. With Prashanth Neel, known for his blockbuster 'KGF' series and 'Salaar', at the helm, expectations are sky-high. The new title is expected to match the film's ambitious vision and the star power of Jr NTR. Title reveal expected soon It is also speculated that the reveal of the new title could happen in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Jr NTR is also busy with another major project, 'War 2', co-starring Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, 'War 2' is slated for release on August 14, 2025, and features Kiara Advani as the female lead. This pan-India spy action thriller is expected to be a major box office success. Check out our list of the latest Hindi , English , Tamil , Telugu , Malayalam , and Kannada movies . EXCLUSIVE: Not Dragon, makers of Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel's film hunt for new title
The much-anticipated film, tentatively called Dragon, starring Jr NTR and directed by Prashanth Neel, is undergoing a title change. Yes, Pinkvilla has exclusively learned that the makers are actively seeking a new title, and there's a solid reason behind it amidst all the buzz it's creating among South Indian film circles. Double Trouble A source informs, 'The issue stems from the fact that Dragon is already a registered title with a 2025-released Tamil film, which restricts the production team from locking it officially. Moreover, the Tamil film titled 'Dragon' was also dubbed in Telugu. To avoid legal complications and fan confusion, especially in the Telugu-speaking market, the makers are taking no chances.' Well, given Jr NTR 's massive Telugu fanbase, the team is being extra careful about branding and recall. Since both the Tamil and Telugu-dubbed versions are accessible to audiences, keeping the same title could result in confusion. Also, legally, the rules do not permit re-registering the same title in a short span. Hunt for a new title According to an insider, with names like Jr NTR, Prashanth Neel, and Mythri Movie Makers coming together for a high-budget film, expectations are sky-high. The new title is expected to reflect that same scale. While the current working title, Dragon, helped generate initial hype, fans can now look forward to an official title announcement in the coming weeks. The KGF director will ensure that the film matches the mass appeal of Jr. NTR, and it's safe to assume that the final name will be worth the wait. Meanwhile, Jr NTR is currently working on Hrithik Roshan co-starrer War 2, being helmed by Ayan Mukerji. War 2 is scheduled to release on the big screen on August 14, 2025. It also features Kiara Advani in the female lead role. WATCH WAR 2 TEASER HERE

Last Updated: The first glimpse of Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel's much-awaited film has been postponed to give way to the release of War 2's first asset, which drops on Jr NTR's birthday, May 20. Fans of Jr NTR were eagerly waiting for the first glimpse of his high-octane action film with director Prashanth Neel. However, the much-anticipated reveal has now been postponed—but for good reason. The makers have stepped back to make way for the first official asset from War 2, which will drop on May 20, 2025—Jr NTR's birthday. This news was first hinted at by Hrithik Roshan, who stars alongside Jr NTR in War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji. Taking to social media, Hrithik teased, 'Hey @tarak9999, think you know what to expect on the 20th of May this year? Trust me, you have NO idea what's in store. Ready? #War2." Jr NTR responded in kind, saying, 'Thank you in advance @iHrithik sir!!! Can't wait to hunt you down to give you a special return gift, Kabir…" Adding to the excitement, Mythri Movie Makers, producers of the Jr NTR–Prashanth Neel film, confirmed the postponement via X. We'll arrive next at the perfect time to launch our MASS MISSILE – #NTRNeel Glimpse. Celebrate Man of Masses @Tarak9999's birthday with #War2." Given the massive success of War (2019), expectations for its sequel are sky-high—and promotions kicking off three months in advance only reinforce the studio's confidence in the film's scale. Meanwhile, fans of Jr NTR can rest assured—the first glimpse of #NTRNeel will arrive soon, and it promises to be explosive. First Published:
