2 Broncos players make PFF's list of top NFL players over last 25 years
2 Broncos players make PFF's list of top NFL players over last 25 years Pro Football Focus recently released their list of the 25 best NFL players from the past 25 years, and two Denver Broncos players made the list: outside linebacker Von Miller and kicker Matt Prater. Fellow Broncos Peyton Manning, Evan Mathis and Champ Bailey were named as honorable mentions, but Miller's (95.1 PFF career grade) and Prater's (95.1 PFF career grade) scores helped take the cake. PFF's Jonathon Macri discusses what made Miller and Prater a cut above the rest. 'The honor of the most career sacks (139) in the PFF era also happens to belong to the highest-graded edge defender of all time," Macri wrote on PFF. "Miller's career spans 13 seasons, exactly 10,000 defensive snaps, and is still going. He owns nine seasons with at least a 90.0 PFF overall grade — by far the most at the position, as the next closest player (Khalil Mack) has six. Miller joins Nick Bosa as the only edge defender to rank in the top five in career pressure rate (16.5%), career pass-rush win rate (16.7%) and career PFF pass-rush grade (93.9).' Miller won Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos following the 2015 season. Prater earned an All-Pro nod and Pro Bowl selection during his seven-year tenure in Denver. 'Prater has logged more than 700 combined field goals and extra point attempts in his NFL career with a 97% accuracy rate on extra points and an 86% accuracy rate on field goals, leading to a top-two field goal/extra point grade (95.1)," Macri wrote on PFF. "Prater is one of just three kickers in the PFF era with at least 80 field goal attempts of less than 30 yards who never missed a kick from that range. He is the only kicker to fit in that cohort and have at least 90% accuracy from 30-39 yards and at least 75% accuracy from 40-49 yards and 50-plus yards.' Congrats to both Miller and Prater on this well-deserved recognition. As for Bailey being left off the list ... let's just say an honorable mention nod is not sufficient. But that's a topic for another day. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Warning against swimming after sewage spill
Swimmers are being urged to avoid using a beach in Kent due to "pollution from sewage". The alert at Sandgate Beach, near Folkestone, is expected to last until 24 May, according to the Environment Agency (EA). Sandgate and West Folkestone ward councillor Tim Prater said a drain near The Sandgate Hotel "seems to be discharging sewage onto the beach". But Southern Water said a damaged sewer pipe caused the spill, and the discharge had "not affected bathing water quality." "The discharge from the surface water outfall has not entered the sea," it said. The water company added that the incident was reported on Wednesday and it immediately sent teams to the Esplanade. It has since "introduced a series of measures to protect the local environment, including tankers to control flows through the area". Councillor Prater says the anti-swimming advisory could be lifted sooner than forecast. Folkestone and Hythe District Council confirmed the EA and Southern Water were "working to fix" the sewage leak and that signage was being installed at the site. The EA's most recent water quality classification for Sandgate was "excellent", based on samples it took between 2021 and 2024. Follow BBC Kent on Facebook, on X, and on Instagram. 68-year-old man punches officer over car being towed in California, police say
A man was arrested after he was accused of attacking an officer over a car being towed, California police said. On May 20, a Santa Rosa officer was 'conducting patrols in a parking lot' when he identified a car with a registration that expired six years ago, according to a May 21 Facebook post by the city's police department. The officer had been working with the owner to renew the registration but after learning it was still expired, he issued a tow, police said. When the tow truck arrived and the officer started preparing the paper work, an 'uninvolved man' started 'aggressively approaching' the cop, police said. He was identified by police as Michael Prater, 68. That's when police said Prater hit the officer on both sides of his face and punched him in the head. The officer was able to push Prater away, which caused him to fall to the ground, police said. Eventually, the officer arrested Prater, and he was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of threatening an executive officer and battery on a peace officer, police said. Santa Rosa is about a 50-mile drive northwest from San Francisco.
