Kolkata: The Bengal Police and Kolkata Police bagged 16 President's Medals for Distinguished Service and Medals for Meritorious Service. Kona E-way curbs on goods vehicles
Kolkata: Howrah City Police and Kolkata Police have announced plans for restriction and diversion of goods vehicles in connection with ongoing construction work for the six-lane elevated corridor on Kona Expressway, which may lead to a spike in number of goods vehicles on BT Road. Howrah CP Praveen Tripathi indicated that once the work on the ground at both ends of flyover is over, cops will again approach NHAI for truck movement nod. For now, no Kolkata-bound goods vehicles will be allowed on Kona Expressway from Nibra between 6 am and 11 pm. No truck will be allowed entry and exit from the port between noon and 4 pm. The port is shifting a chunk of operations to railways, said KP commissioner Manoj Verma. Port chairman Rathendra Raman said in case a road is closed, Kolkata-Haldia rail link, or the freight corridor at Dankuni may be used for cargo movement.
