Cops seek individual to assist investment scam probe
KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is seeking a 38-year-old man to help in an investment scam investigation.
Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the investment scheme called "Preferences Shares" was reportedly handled by one company from 2023.
"A total of 279 reports have been lodged involving losses amounting to RM2.3mil.
"Investigations showed that the victims joined the scheme after taking part in a webinar (and were) promised... returns of up to 18% per year," he told reporters here on Friday (Aug 8).
The victims saw returns in their respective accounts for about three months, he said.
"However, after topping up their investments, the returns stopped."
Comm Rusdi said police are looking for one Mohd Ezman Zamani, 38, to help with the investigation.
"We urge those with information to contact investigating officer Asst Supt Mohd Fikri Najib Ismail at 013-9839854 or Insp Noor Azamin Noor Azahari at 011-65580848," he said.
