LT Grade teacher recruitment sees record-breaking OTR figures
Prayagraj: The eagerly awaited LT Grade teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh achieved a major milestone with One Time Registration (OTR) figures surpassing the previous records. In just 21 days, since the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) announced a brief advertisement on July 14 for the recruitment of 7,466 LT Grade teacher positions, over 4 lakh new candidates successfully completed their OTR, signalling the high interest in this recruitment drive. The previous recruitment advertisement for LT Grade teachers was released in 2018, offering 10,768 vacancies. Back then, a total of 7,62,317 candidates applied. The application deadline is set for Aug 28, and by Tuesday, a total of 27,08,524 candidates filled the OTR. The commission has advised candidates to complete their OTR before applying as applications without an OTR number would not be accepted. By July 14, around 21.75 lakh candidates registered through OTR. However, since the announcement, the pace of registration accelerated, and on Tuesday, the numbers crossed the 27lakh mark. Since the previous recruitment, the demand for teaching jobs skyrocketed, with millions of candidates completing their BEd degrees, eagerly awaiting this opportunity. Consequently, experts believe that this time, the number of applicants could easily exceed 10 lakh. To put things into perspective, the highest number of applications ever recorded in recent UPPSC history was 10,76,004 for the RO/ARO Preliminary Exam in 2023. However, given the rapid pace of OTR registrations for the LT Grade teacher recruitment, officials predict that this process could shatter previous records in terms of both applications and OTR numbers.
