Murderbot – Season 1 Episode 5 Recap & Review
Rogue War Tracker Infinite Episode 5 of Murderbot begins with our titular character still very much alive but in a rough state. After shooting itself in the chest, the group decide to pick Murderbot back up and bring it to base. Arada is panicking and winds up shooting at someone in the distance though. It's a DeltFall survivor, who recounts how their SecUnit has also gone rogue. LeeBeeBee is the name of this woman and she's from one of the Industrial Junctions. She's not sure whose SecUnit attacked them, but she's pretty shocked when she finds out that Murderbot shot itself to stop attacking the Preservation Society. Bharadwaj does her best to try and save our SecUnit, removing the Combat Override Module and rebooting before turning it back online. However, Gurathin is here and he starts sifting through Murderbot's code to make sure there's nothing untoward there. Gurathin realizes that Murderbot has already gone rogue and hacked its Governor Module. The group are split though with half of them (including LeeBeeBee) believing its scheming to undermine them. Bharadwaj and Ratthi believe its on their side side. The company have a financial interest in keeping them alive but Gurathin believes that they need to keep it immobilized. That's not going to happen but Mensah wants Murderbot to stick around for the foreseeable future. Murderbot reveals to them though that the HubSystem may have been hacked by an outside force. Thankfully, Murderbot has hacked the command flow and is feeding the company redundant feeds so they don't suspect anything. The Preservation Society aren't able to access the beacon though so Mensah and Murderbot decide to head off together and access it manually. On the way, Murderbot and Mensah talk casually, which our protagonist is taken aback by but certainly enjoying. As they get near the beacon, Mensah looks like she's about to share information about Gurathin but they're quickly interrupted. The beacon blows up, forcing them to quickly move the ship at then last second. The Episode Review Murderbot returns this week with another solid episode, this time with our protagonist back online and very much part of the group. Now that Murderbot's secrets are out (kinda) it adds a new dimension to proceedings, and it's quite amusing to see how these guys and gals react to Murderbot's 'humanity'. The situation between Gurathin and Murderbot is still at breaking point though and it'll be interesting to see exactly who this saboteur is within the group. For the time being though, Murderbot continues to deliver the goods. Roll on next week! Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!

Murderbot – Season 1 Episode 3 Recap & Review
Risk Assessment Episode 3 of Murderbot begins with Preservation Society preparing to head across to the adjacent lab. Before they leave, Mensah gently encourages Murderbot to lower his helmet down so he's shown as part of the team. On the ship, our titular character is too busy watching his sci-fi soap operas and he's not particularly happy about being constantly interrupted by the group trying to converse with him. This is particularly noticeable when Ratthi speaks to him, with Murderbot irritated by this whole ordeal. Back over at the Preservation Aux habitat, Bharadwaj is healing well but she's still traumatized by the experience. Gurathin offers some behaviour modules but she turns him down. Murderbot continues to keep an eye on the guy though as he sneaks into Mensah's room and smells her pillow, very evidently missing her. When the group find out that Murderbot has been reading their logs, Mensah approaches and tries to work out if he means them harm or not. Murderbot's long pause doesn't do his case any favours, especially his hilarious monologue about his disdain for humanity. His quips are the comedic glue that keep this episode ticking over, and eventually they do make it to the habitat. Landing on the perimeter, right by a lake, the group approach slowly. Our Murderbot takes the lead though, heading inside the base as the others don't really have military-grade weapons training here. Murderbot immediately finds the destroyed SecUnit we saw briefly at the end of the last episode. His curiosity gets the better of him, as he finds the entire team destroyed and killed. Mensah wants Murderbot to leave but radio interference causes their communication to cut out. Turns out this was Murderbot's doing, as he's not ready to leave just yet. It would appear one of the SecUnit's has gone rogue and killed the others, eventually leading to Murderbot taking the prone bot out before it can do any more damage. Checking over the body, Murderbot realizes that somebody has taken control of the SecUnit. But who? Well, the answer comes in the form of another Bot entering the room and firing at our titular character. The Episode Review So Murderbot returns with a great episode, sporting solid production values and a hilarious comedic tone. The episodes definitely feel a bit too short though and it's disappointing to find this one only clocking in at 22 minutes. The show is just starting to find its groove and ending these quick-bite episodes like this is in danger of losing the momentum as the weeks tick by. Even so though, the show has a lot to whet the appetite here. The characters are generally quite interesting and what's particularly ironic is how Murderbot is probably more human than he gives himself credit for, given his current motives and curiosity. Either way, we'll have to wait and see where this one goes next week. Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!

The "Back To The Future" Experience At Universal Fan Fest Nights Is W-I-L-D, Here's What It's Like
Hello, fellow movie fans! In case you hadn't heard, Universal Studios Hollywood JUST launched the very first "Fan Fest Nights" (think of it as Halloween Horror Nights meets Comic-Con), and it's no secret the most highly-anticipated attraction at this event is " Back to the Future: Destination Hill Valley." This highly immersive experience takes places at Universal Studios' backlot in Courthouse Square, which is the ACTUAL location where they filmed the iconic Clock Tower scene (and more) in Back to the Future. And there's an entire storyline with actors you can follow and interact with. So, yeah, you basically get to "live" inside Back to the Future for a night, and it's SO. FUN. So, in case you go (or can't make it and just wanna see), here are all the best Back to the Future details, Easter eggs, and just really cool things I saw and experienced at Fan Fest Nights. Check it out... 1. First of all, before you even get on the tram to the backlot, you'll get a taste of what's to come when you bump into the Clock Tower lady from Hill Valley's Preservation Society. (Be sure to grab one of the iconic blue "Save the Clock Tower" flyers she's handing out!) 2. Getting you even more into the mindset of being "immersed" in Hill Valley, the typical Tram tour video has been replaced with a special video from Doc Brown advising you to do things like "observe, interact, and above all, don't cause a paradox." 3. When you arrive at the backlot, if your timing is lucky, you'll actually get to see Marty wandering into town (just like in the movie)! And you are 10000% welcome to interact with him (and all the other actors). 4. And there are perfect replicas of the Lyon Estates billboard and signs before you even arrive at Courthouse Square. 5. OKAY, so when you do finally step foot into Courthouse Square, you'll instantly feel transported to 1955. And there are all kinds of great details to look out for that callback to the film. 6. For example one of the first things you'll probably notice is Biff's Ford Super De Luxe Convertible. 7. There's also Doc Brown's 1949 Packard Custom 8 Victoria Convertible over at the gas station. 8. Closer to the entrance, you'll see a replica of a "Re-Elect Mayor 'Red' Thomas" sign. 9. And, of course, not-so-subtly, the "Welcome to Hill Valley" square sign that Marty walks by in the film. 10. There's Ruth's Frock Shop, where Lorraine gets her dress for the "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance. 11. And if you look more closely at the shops you'll see a lot of great Easter eggs. For example, the jewelry shop has a sign that says: Timeless Classics (~timeless~ get it?!). 12. And the stationary store has some fun science fiction books that are very on brand, like A Man Returns (Marty's goal is to return to 1985!), The Traveler from Orange County (time TRAVEL!), and I'll Have What She's Having * by Tony Lindas, who is the Manager of Props and Placemaking at Universal Studios Hollywood. 13. At the Realtor's office, you'll see homes for sale throughout Hill Valley including a couple of houses for sale on streets like "S. Hill Valley Circle" and "N. Courthouse Drive." 14. We don't get Lou's Cafe, sadly, however there is a thematic "Valley Diner & Cafe"... 15. ...as well as a "Hill Valley Hotel." 16. But there IS Roy's Records, which doesn't have "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" for sale, but they do have a nice record player for sale in the window. 17. And there's even a toy shop with some fun details in the window, including this train set, which looks a lot like the train in Back to the Future Part III. 18. Also, be on the lookout (up high) for a fun "Hill Valley High School" sign above the "Enchantment Under the Sea" stage... 19. ....as well as the panthers that have been added to the Clock Tower over at Courthouse Square (also way up high). 20. Now, back to the BIG things. As I mentioned, this is a totally immserive event. So fans are encouraged to cosplay as BTTF characters. And you get to interact with the actors playing the characters from the film as much as you want! 21. Like, you can help George McFly come up with something clever to say to Lorraine. 22. You can ask Biff for a photo (although there's a 100% change he'll be ~mean~ to you, because, ya know, he's a bully). 24. And, of course, you can talk to Marty and try and help him figure out how the heck he's going to get back to 1985! Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed 25. FYI, there are ~major~ events that happen throughout your visit, and the whole story plays out in a roughly 1-hour loop, so if you miss one of the major events, you can hang out and see it again a little later. Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed 26. Like, you can see Marty trying to avoid Lorraine's (his mom) romantic advances. Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed 27. Or watch Marty and Doc hash out their plan to get Marty BACK to the future. Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed 28. You can see Strickland Strickland. Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed 29. And you can even see Marty play up on stage with Marvin Berry and the Starlighters at the "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance. Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed 30. But, of course, the pièce de résistance is the recreation of the Clock Tower lightning strike. Now, FAIR WARNING, you will not actually see a Delorean/Time Machine drive down the road during the recreation. However, you will see a cool projection and lighting sequence timed to the music that recreates the scene. And it's pretty spectacular. Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed 31. And they've also added some cool special effects to recreate the lightning striking the tower and then going through the wires on Marty's path. Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed TBH, I was HOPING they'd at least have a Time Machine drive through the square for this recreation, but I get it, it's probably too dangerous to have that happen with a ton of people wandering around. (STILL, would've been cool!) 32. There's also a REALLY great photo op they've set up with the iconic flames on the road and spinning license plate*. And this is just up and running all night, so get your pics in whenever you want! Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed *TECHNICALLY, the whole spinning license plate thing happens earlier in the movie, in 1985 when Einstein (the dog) time travels, but I'll give them a pass here because it looks cool and is a fun effect and photo op they've set up, LOL. Here's me (as Jennifer! LOL), just to give you a sense of what that looks like: Darren Leis / BuzzFeed 33. But, don't worry, you can get your Time Machine moment in with this other A+++ photo op that also includes EINSTEIN. Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed The line gets REALLY long for this photo op, as you can imagine, so just keep that in mind when planning! As you can see, there's a TONNNNN to do at " Back to the Future: Destination Hill Valley," and if you love the films, 10/10 would recommend you check this out! You can purchase tickets NOW for Universal Fan Fest Nights to see it all IRL. The remaining event dates are May 2–4, 9–11, and 16–18, 2025.

Fall River's 5 most neglected historic properties are at risk of decay: Where they are
FALL RIVER — The Preservation Society of Fall River on April 24 released its 2025 list of the city's 'Most Endangered' properties — including one historic building that's literally undergoing demolition after being nearly destroyed by fire. The nonprofit group marked the 20th anniversary of its revival with a meeting open to the public held in The Historic Abbey at 100 Rock St. — the former Central Congregational Church, itself a historic property that the Preservation Society once helped save from the wrecking ball. 'Fall River is home to one of the most diverse varieties of historically significant art and architectural styles in the United States,' said Preservation Society President Alex Silva, adding that the city's inventory of historic buildings has taken for granted in the past and slowly dwindled. 'The Most Endangered list was born out of an effort to increase the awareness of these resources, to stimulate creative problem-solving and to assist in clarifying which properties should be kept at the forefront of Fall River's preservation efforts.' 'Not worth risking anybody there': Fall River's dilapidated former Silvia School fire The former school on Hartwell, built in 1902, was in use for about a century before being replaced and sold to developer David Hebert. But redeveloping the old school proved challenging. After Hebert's plans never materialized, the Preservation Society urged the city to retake the building and put it on the market again. However, just before a viable bid process could begin, the long-vacant school was hit by a devastating fire. Four juveniles have been arrested and charged with arson. One portion of the school complex is undergoing demolition. 'The remaining half, the multi-story brick portion on the left, will be spared for now as the city issues a new request for proposals to dispose of the property," Silva said. He said before the fire, the Preservation Society had been working with the city to tweak an RFP to 'maximize the chances of redevelopment — we were trying to change some language to make affordable housing more enticing to developers.' 'Get that building down': Time's up for Fall River's old police station The city has spent years unsuccessfully trying to unload its decrepit, contaminated police station on someone — anyone — with a viable plan to redevelop it. Built around 1915, the city has sold the Neo-Classical brick building on Bedford Street multiple times to developers who saw the property degrade even further. Now surrounded by chain-link fence to protect passersby and prevent squatting, Fall River has reclaimed the building and may be close to demolishing it. 'The Preservation Society continues to advocate for the redevelopment of this building over demolition, suggesting that the city should handle remediation and stabilization efforts rather than expecting a private developer to do it,' Silva said. If the building is torn down, however, the society 'has requested that the city deconstruct, rather than demolish, and preserve historical elements of the façade, like the eagle and such.' The massive mill complex on Pleasant Street isn't vacant, being home to several businesses — but, Silvia said, 'various parts ... are in a state of neglect.' The complex, which is adjacent to the nearby Union Mills where PrimaCare has its home, was built between 1866 and 1904, and most of its original buildings survive. According to its listing in the National Register of Historic Places is 'the finest granite industrial complex in Fall River, outstanding in its styling, scale, site plan, use of materials, detailing, craftsmanship and intact quality.' 'Only sections of the complex are in active use every day, which makes the potential for redevelopment more enticing,' Silva said. The complex on Plymouth Avenue and Rodman Street with the mansard roof was built in 1867, the oldest brick mill building in the city. It's on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Corky Row Historic District — but is severely dilapidated and largely unused. 'Potential redevelopment of this mill would have an outsized impact on the city,' Silva said, citing its prime location in an economically depressed neighborhood. Another former school building at 450 Plymouth Ave., the Connell School was built in 1893 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Prominent local architect Joseph Darling built the school as a twin of the Davol School in the Flint, which according to the National Register application are 'fine examples of the type of sturdy late 19th century brick schoolhouses which in their design and detailing rises above the level of simple functionalism.' It was closed in 2008 when the School Department closed an assortment of smaller neighborhood elementary schools and consolidated students into larger buildings. It's also open to the elements, Silva said, 'especially in the upper levels, and it's decaying by demolition via neglect at this point.'
