New Prezzo Italian restaurant to open in Edinburgh's George Street

Prezzo Italian, which has 96 restaurants across the UK, including venues in Aberdeen and Glasgow, will open in Edinburgh this month - its first new restaurant in five years. The move comes after the restaurant chain recorded a growth in sales after renewing its menu, upgrading restaurants and launching its new 'Club Prezzo' app in a bid to be the 'home of the Italian classics'. The new Edinburgh restaurant will be open at 135 George Street, and it is their third Scottish location with one in Glasgow's Braehead shopping centre and Aberdeen's Union Square. Edinburgh's George Street to welcome popular chain serving up 'Italian classics'

Prezzo will be opening their first new restaurants in five years, and are launching at 135 George Street. The unit was previously operated by Gusto, who announced they were going into administration in July. The new eatery has said they are offering former Gusto employees new roles. After Prezzo purchased the site, they 'quickly engaged' with staff, who have been offered 'the same terms or better' after being made redundant. Prezzo have seen 'strong performance' after recobering from the pandemic, and are revitalising menus and upgrading restaurants across the country. They're opening 40 more locations in the coming years, with 15 scheduled for 2025. The chain was established in 2000, and currently has 96 sites across the country. Gusto CEO James Taylor sent a message to all staff, explaining that the venues were no longer making money. All you have to do is bring Dad to any Prezzo Italian on June 15th and encourage him to tell the Prezzo team his best Dad joke - then he'll receive Poretti Lager on the house for the duration of the meal. There's a set menu for the day where you can choose from two or three courses, priced from just £23.00 for two or from £28.00 for three courses. And the special for the day is Mediterranean Sea Bass: Oven-baked sea bass on a bed of gnocchi, in a rich pomodoro sauce with olives, capers, garlic, chilli and parsley.
