O'Shea and Charlton seeking big day on heavy Kembla track
Randwick co-trainers John O'Shea and Tom Charlton have been enjoying a steady flow of winners of late, and the duo will look to improve on that when they send around a host of runners at Kembla Grange on Thursday. O'Shea and Charlton will be out to start the day in winning style with the stable having four runners, Isosceles, Ocean Mariner, Strongside, and Cellarmaster, engaged in the Mollie Fitzgerald Champion Apprentice Super Maiden Handicap (1400m). Chad Schofield has been booked to ride Isosceles, with the Pierro gelding on debut after two recent trials. Andrew Adkins will partner Ocean Park gelding and another first start in the shape of Ocean Mariner, which has had a number of trials. Dylan Gibbons will be aboard Strongside, a son of Super Seth that is also on debut after four trials in total. Apprentice Zac Wadick rides Cellarmaster, which has had one start for a fourth at Newcastle behind Hillier. 'Cellarmaster ran well on debut at Newcastle,' said O'Shea. 'He had run well in his trials before that and was only beaten three lengths. The winner [Hillier] has since gone to Flemington on a Saturday and finished second.' O'Shea and Charlton combine with three-kilogram claiming apprentice Holly Durnan when Mamushka contests the Price Racing Champion Trainer/ Local Trainer F&M Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200m). Loading 'Mamushka is a nicely bred mare being by Capitalist and out of group 1 winning mare Steps In Time,' O'Shea said. 'She won her first two starts at Goulburn and Gosford earlier in the year, and then she went for a spell after a close-up fifth at Wyong. 'She's had two trials in preparation for her return, and she won the latest of them at Randwick.'
