TET candidates, SFI members clash with cops
Kolkata: A protest by 2022 TET-qualified job-seekers, demanding immediate recruitment to 50,000 vacant posts in primary schools, led to a clash with police at Karunamoyee in Salt Lake on Tuesday.
Protesters emerging from the metro station were detained one by one, and many were put into police vans. Several of them sat on the road in protest, while some evaded barricades to reach the Primary Education Board office. Traffic was disrupted and a scuffle ensued. The standoff went on as protesters arrived in groups in multiples phases.
It coincided with another agitation at Bikash Bhavan, where SFI protested against the delay in JEE results. tnn
