WASHINGTON () — Members from the Prince William County Fire and Rescue took a detour from a watercraft training exercise to rescue a Canadian goose that got stuck under a bridge.
During a Watercraft Operator In-Service Training along the Potomac River, Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue Technical Rescue members noticed the goose was stuck and was hanging from a pier under the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge.

Despite having limited tools, the group got to work and were able to quickly free the trapped goose's leg, which had gotten stuck between construction materials on the pier.
The goose got back into the water, took a couple minutes to drink from the river and then swam away.
