Ozzy Osbourne thrills fans with another appearance just days after farewell gig

Music legend Ozzy Osbourne will make an unexpected and rare appearance in Birmingham with his family just days after his sold-out farewell show with Black Sabbath at Villa Park Ozzy Osbourne is set to get up close and personal with his fans just days after his sold-out Black Sabbath show - which has come as good news for those who missed out on reunion tickets. The music legend, 76, will hang up his Prince of Darkness crown later this year in one final blow out dubbed "the greatest heavy metal show ever". He will return to the stage for one last time with Black Sabbath at Aston Villa's Villa Park on July 5, marking the first time the band's original line-up - Ozzy, Tony, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward - have played together in over 20 years. ‌ They will be joined by dozens of bands they inspired, including Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Gojira and Anthrax. Ozzy, who has been forced to halt touring due amid his Parkinson's battle, is set to play a short solo set before joining his bandmates on stage for the epic reunion. ‌ Tickets sold out in a staggering 16 minutes, with thousands of fans left disappointed. However, Ozzy has now been confirmed to be making a surprise appearance in Birmingham, the city where the heavy rock pioneers formed in 1968, just days later. The rock icon is giving fans the chance to meet him, his X Factor icon wife Sharon Osbourne and their children Kelly and Jack. The famous clan will head to Comic Con Midlands on July 12 and 13 at the NEC Birmingham. 'We are delighted to have finally secured one of the world's most famous and iconic families to appear at our show for a special one off opportunity for fans to meet them,' said Andy Kleek, CEO of Monopoly Events. 'It's been a long time in the making, but we are thrilled to have finally secured this groundbreaking booking. We know that Birmingham is a place that The Osbournes hold deeply in their hearts and we couldn't be more excited to welcome them to Comic Con Midlands in July!' Tickets for the show are currently on sale, with the opportunity to secure a spot to meet the Osbournes available soon. They will join the likes of Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies. ‌ Ozzy recently opened up on what fans can expect from the epic show at Villa Pak, as it has been confirmed concert organisers will 'use smoke and mirrors' to make sure he gets the triumphant send off he deserves. He said: 'I'm used to doing two hours on stage, jumping and running around. I don't think I'll be doing much jumping or running around this time. I may be sitting down.' ‌ Ozzy is likely to be on a chair on stage but there will be lots of smoke like the old Sabbath gigs, flashing lights and big guitar solos from bandmate Tommy Iommi to ensure Ozzy's entrance and performance will delight fans. In 2020, Ozzy revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and he paused touring in 2023 after extensive spinal surgery. "You wake up the next morning and find that something else has gone wrong. You begin to think this is never going to end," he told G2. He said the reunion concert was conceived by his wife, Sharon, as "something to give me a reason to get up in the morning". ‌ "I do weights, bike riding, I've got a guy living at my house who's working with me. It's tough - I've been laid up for such a long time," he said. He added: "We're only playing a couple of songs each. I don't want people thinking 'we're getting ripped off', because it's just going to be ... what's the word? ... a sample, you're going to get a few songs each by Ozzy and Sabbath." The all-day event at Villa Park in Birmingham will also feature sets by a host of major metal bands including Metallica, Slayer and Alice In Chains. Money raised from the show will go to Parkinson's and children's charities.

Zakk Wylde says Black Sabbath's farewell show will be "special for everybody", but hopes it won't be Ozzy's last gig

Zakk Wylde says that Black Sabbath's farewell Back To The Beginning gig in Birmingham will be "special for everybody", but hopes that it won't be Ozzy Osbourne's final time on stage. Talking about the Birmingham band's homecoming show, which is set to feature performances from Metallica, Slayer, Mastodon, Alice In Chains, Tool, Guns N' Roses and many more, plus one-off super-groups featuring the likes of Tom Morello, Sammy Hagar, Wolfgang Van Halen, Billy Corgan, Fred Durst and more, Wylde told Riff X's Metal XS show (as reported by Blabbermouth), "Considering all the bands that are on that thing and everybody's gonna be playing Sabbath songs, it's gonna be pretty mindblowing. It's gonna be pretty awesome. And then to see Ozz get up there and do a song with 'em and then watch Sabbath play. I think for all the bands that are gonna be there, 'cause if it wasn't for Sabbath none of us would exist. You know what I mean? So I think it's gonna be special for everybody." The guitarist also expressed his hope - "you always gotta stay on the bright side of life" - that the show on July 5, which is also intended as Ozzy Osbourne's farewell bow as a solo artist, will not actually be his very final show. "Hopefully we'll just do this, and then Ozz will go, 'Let's just fire up the machine again and we'll do another tour.' You know what I mean?" he says. "With Ozz and his throne that just flies over the stadium or whatever - shoots out buckets of water and does everything like that. So, yeah, if Ozz has a great time, whatever, and it's just, like, 'I wanna go out on the road again,' it's like, Good. Let's do it again." "I mean, what else is he gonna do?" Wylde continues. "It's like Keith Richards said. He [was asked], 'When are you going to retire?' He goes, 'Retire from what?' If you like reading a book and having a cup of coffee, it's, like, why am I retiring from this? I enjoy it. I play music. I mean, what am I retiring from? It's something I enjoy, something I love doing. So hopefully that's what happens." Osbourne's producer, collaborator and sometime guitarist Andrew Watt says that the Prince of Darkness has been hitting the gym as the countdown to July's Back To The Beginning show continues. Speaking to US broadcaster Howard Stern on Stern's SiriusXM, Watt discussed working with Ozzy, and says that the singer's voice is "as good as it's ever been.""He's okay," Watt stated. "His body is not doing what doing what he wants it to do all the time, but I talked to him a couple of days ago, and he's starting to get in the gym again a little, to get himself ready for this last concert. He is the real life Iron Man. And nothing has happened to his voice, his voice is as good as it's ever been."
