Tom, 46, is best known for starring as Lucifer Morningstar in the hit series Lucifer, which was based on the DC Comics version of the Prince of Darkness.
The Welsh actor starred in the show from 2015 to 2021, with Fox airing three seasons before Netflix picked it up and aired an additional three seasons.
The new "CIA" drama is set to premiere during the 2025-2026 broadcast season.
The official show description states: ''CIA' is a one hour crime drama centered on two unlikely partners – a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer (Ellis), and a by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent who believes in the rule of law.'
'When this odd couple are assigned to work out of CIA's New York Station, they must learn to work together to investigate cases and criminals posing threats on U.S. soil, finding that their differences may actually be their strength.'
Though Tom has taken one of the lead roles, the second lead role is still being decided.
The show is written by Dick Wolf and David Hudgins, who are both executive producers alongside Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen, and Peter Jankowski.
'CIA' is produced by Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment and CBS Studios.
The news of the drama comes after it was announced that both 'FBI: Most Wanted' and 'FBI: International' had been canceled at CBS.
'FBI' is currently in the first season of the three-season renewal it received in 2024.
Before starring in Lucifer, Tom was best known for starring in the BBC sitcom Miranda and also well known for playing Dr Oliver Cousins in EastEnders.
In June 2019, Tom married his long-term girlfriend, American screenwriter and actress Meaghan Oppenheimer.
The pair tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at the Grassini Family Winery in Santa Ynez Valley, California.
They began dating in 2015 and announced their engagement in 2018.
Before that, Tom was previously married to EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite, who he married in 2006 in Somerset after meeting the year before through their mutual friend James McAvoy.
They went on to have two daughters, Florence (born 2008) and Marnie (born 2012).
But in 2014, following revelations of Tom's infidelity, the couple divorced.
Tamzin was left devastated after he confessed to a one-night stand while filming Gothica in the States in 2013.
According to The Richest, Tom has a net worth of £6m.
This is largely down to his work on TV.
It's estimated his Netflix earnings for Lucifer could be as high as £37,000 per episode.
Tom is due to star opposite Sterling K. Brown in the upcoming Hulu limited series Washington Black.

Meghan Markle's 'two-week rule' key to early relationship success with Prince Harry

There is a saying that people make time for who they want to make time for. When Prince Harry met Meghan Markle in the summer of 2016, they both had jam-packed schedules. Harry had a busy calendar of royal engagements and Meghan was starring in season six of Suits. In their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, the couple described the early days of their long-distance relationship. In July 2016 the Meghan was in London to promote the new season of the US show and was sent on a 'blind' date with the Prince. The two were keen to keep things under wraps, so their date took place at a private room at the exclusive Soho House - where Meghan's friend Markus Anderson was brand ambassador. Harry had just returned from France to commemorate the Battle of the Somme and was, understandably, in sombre spirits. According to the Sussexes' Netflix docuseries, Harry was late to their date at 76 Dean Street. The couple had two dates before Meghan had to fly back to Toronto on July 5, with Meghan boldly initiating the second date. She said: 'I called him that evening and said "Look I'm leaving the day after tomorrow, do you want to grab dinner tomorrow night?" 'I'm sure he thought it was so forward and American.' And for their third date, Harry took Meghan away on a romantic trip to Botswana. 'It was three, maybe four, weeks later that I managed to persuade her to come join me in Botswana, and we camped out with each other under the stars,' Harry explained during their engagement interview. 'She came and joined me for five days out there, which was absolutely fantastic. 'Then we were really by ourselves, which was crucial to me to make sure that we had a chance to get to know each other.' Harry later said it was during this trip that he knew Meghan was his 'soulmate'. After this trip, Meghan gave Harry a strict rule which he would have to follow in order for the relationship to be viable. In the first episode of Harry & Meghan, the Prince explained: 'She had a two-week rule, which was very smart, that said we had to see each other in, or around two weeks.' He recalled asking Meghan: 'How is that even possible with the stuff that I'm doing? I'm not going to be able to travel to see you that much.' The Duchess said: 'It was much easier for me to go and see him in the UK. I could still just get on a commercial flight and go and see him under the radar. Harry added: 'Those first few months when no one knew, it made much more sense for her to come to me so then she could come and stay with me on Kensington Palace grounds.' The two would go for walks around Frogmore - away from the public eye. Harry said at the time: 'I fell in love with Meghan so incredibly quickly - it was a confirmation to me that all the stars were aligned.' Harry had been looking for someone special, but up until the moment he bumped into Meghan, dating had been a bit of a disaster for him. Despite his status as the most eligible bachelor in the country, the Prince's love life included a series of failed relationships with an array of heiresses, airheads and aristocrats. Following the repeated failures, one expert claimed he started to feel like the 'royal Bridget Jones'. He was so exhausted by the constant dating that by 2016, at the age of 31, he finally felt ready to settle down and find a wife. The thirst for finding the one was so great that he candidly told TV presenter Denise van Outen at a birthday party in January 2016: 'I'm not dating and for the first time ever I want to find a wife.' Four months later, he brought up the subject of love and marriage again during an interview with The Sunday Times. He told the paper: 'At the moment my focus is very much on work but if someone slips into my life then that's absolutely fantastic.' Meghan and Harry's relationship became public in September 2017 and by November the two were engaged. Meghan and Harry's relationship became public in September 2017 and by November, the two were engaged But their whirlwind romance wasn't all smooth sailing. After a short period as working royals following their wedding in May 2018, the couple announced that they would be stepping back as senior royals in January 2020. It sent shockwaves around the world, and the coining of the term 'Megxit' quickly followed - which became one of Collins Dictionary's Words Of The Year in 2020. They went on to declare their plans to divide their time between the UK and North America, and to 'focus on the next chapter'. But it turned out to be a bitter end to the fairy tale romance Britain had enjoyed with Meghan - and the beginning of the end of Harry's relationship with his brother Prince William. In February 2021, after a year's review period, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the couple would not be returning to their royal roles. Then came the Oprah Winfrey documentary. Writing in his book, Charles III: The Inside Story, Mail columnist Robert Hardman described the interview as 'the most astonishing unburdening of family secrets since the late Princess of Wales sat down with the BBC's Martin Bashir in 1995'. Since the revelatory interview, the Sussexes have been accused by the likes of Piers Morgan of lying, with the couple themselves taking back some of their statements The pair made allegations that rocked the monarchy during the 85-minute conversation. They claimed comments had been made about how dark the skin of their son, Prince Archie, might be when he was born, while Meghan accused Kate of making her cry over bridesmaid dresses just days before her wedding. Queen Elizabeth then issued a statement saying the issues raised in the interview would be dealt with privately as a family, adding that 'recollections may vary'. Since the revelatory interview, the Sussexes have been accused by the likes of Piers Morgan of lying, with the couple themselves taking back some of their statements. Despite Meghan once being able to travel on a commercial flight, Harry now says his loss of security protection since stepping down as working royals makes it 'impossible' to bring Meghan and his children to the UK. He also recently made headlines for his no-holds-barred BBC interview, which aired hours after losing his appeal for automatic, full security protection when visiting from the US. He said he 'can't see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point'.

Brad Pitt fans have just days to watch 'best sports movie ever'

With a near-perfect 94 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes, this Brad Pitt starrer has often been hailed as one of the best sports movies of all time. Leaving Netflix on June 21, fans have just days to watch the film. With a smashing 94 per cent score on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, Brad Pitt's Moneyball is often regarded as one of the best sports movies of all time. Leaving Netflix on June 21, Moneyball is a 2011 biographical sports drama adapted for screen by Aaron Sorkin and Steven Zaillian. ‌ It's based on Michael Lewis's 2003 book Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game. Directed by Bennett Miller, Moneyball sees Pitt joined by a stellar cast comprising Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Chris Pratt. ‌ Based on the life of Oakland Athletics' general manager Billy Beane (portrayed by Brad Pitt) and his use of unconventional data analytics to build a top-tier baseball team on a much more limited budget than others, this American sports drama delves into how Billy Beane challenged the traditional scouting methods and in turn, changed the sport forever. Moneyball received six Academy Awards nominations including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay, along with bagging a Best Actor nomination for Brad Pitt and a Best Supporting Actor nod for Jonah Hill. The film was also a commercial success, grossing $110.2 million worldwide against a production budget of $50 million. Speaking to NPR about portraying Billy Beane on screen, Brad Pitt said: 'I like him for his idiosyncrasies — that he can't watch the games without getting too emotional, that he often has food down his shirt, that he tends to break a few chairs now and then. These things make him human.' Moneyball received high praise from critics, with one reviewer saying: 'Moneyball is a winner, one of the freshest and smartest sports movies in years.' ‌ While one critic felt Bennett Miller's offering was 'an accomplished, bracingly intelligent film that scores points on all fronts,' another called it 'an engaging, almost exotic film'. Praise for Brad Pitt in Moneyball ran abound, as one reviewer commented: 'Starring Brad Pitt in top movie star form, it's a film that's impressive and surprising,' while another said: 'It is Pitt who is in every way, the heart of the movie, his natural confidence and grace a lovely balance to the formulas with Greek letters and the endless statistics.' ‌ Another critic said of the film: 'It's to the director's credit, and Pitt's, that Moneyball is anything but bloodless — in its own quiet, unspectacular way, this movie courses with life,' while another added: 'This is a subtle, elegant and altogether triumphant film about a subject I thought I was tired of, told with an artistry and freshness that is positively thrilling.' Audiences were left as taken with the Brad Pitt spectacle, with one viewer saying: 'All Time Classic. Acting is excellent. Everyone gives really good performances but Brad Pitt is excellent and just sends it over the top with an interesting character to boot. The music also is excellent as well in a really unique way.' Another viewer called it a 'brilliant, inspirational film. A testament to the romanticism and amazingness of baseball. A great depiction of the Oakland Athletics miracle season. Fantastic acting. The best sports movie I have ever seen.' While one viewer felt they couldn't understand 'how anyone doesn't like this', writing: 'I've watched it 100+ times, it's my top 3 movies of all time. So many amazing scenes and subtle acting mastery. I love this movie.' And one fan of the film said: 'It doesn't matter if you don't care much for baseball, you'll love it. Bennett writes and directs this flawlessly and puts together a great cast. Which of course ends up in a perfect film. One of, if not Brad's best performance yet.'

'I was Grange Hill legend Zammo now I'm a locksmith after horror crash ended my dream'

Zammo McGuire had one of the most infamous story lines on Grange Hill after becoming a heroin addicts, but life for the actor after leaving the show took a different turn For a generation of viewers, he was the fresh-faced trouble-prone kid of Grange Hill, but since he graduated, Lee Macdonald's life trajectory took a turn after a nasty accident changed his dream. Ingrained into the memory of a generation who grew up in the 1980s, Lee Macdonald - who played Zammo Mcguire - made his way into houses across the country, and even into the White House as he and some of the cast were invited to Washington DC after Nancy Reagan watched the show. ‌ Zammo was the classic 'cheeky chap' youngster with bags of charm but who was easily swayed down the wrong path, but this time it wasn't getting in trouble for getting into a playground scrap. ‌ The show known for introducing some of the biggest issues of the time to a young audience had storylines centred around racism, teenage pregnancy, HIV and AIDS, and in this case drug addiction. Zammo's story arc in particular struck with families becoming one of the most popular and controversial stories of the show as he was lured down the path of heroin addiction, leading to the infamous scene of him nearly overdosing when he was found slumped in a toilet. The character became the face of the "Just Say No" anti-drug campaign that swept across the world in the 80s, with the Grange Hill cast even having a top five UK chart hit with their anti-drugs charity track, Just Say No. But after his five-year spell on the show would come to an end in 1987, his time in front of the camera would take a hiatus. Partly something he claims was done due to the damage of the association with drugs, reports Sky. ‌ But speaking about his time on the show to The Guardian, he had overwhelmingly positive things to say: "I was doing something I really enjoyed, getting paid for it and I was getting loads of girlfriends. My schoolwork never suffered; I was never bullied at school. It was the best thing I ever did, and if I could do it all again I would.' Instead, he looked to turn his hobby of boxing into a career, however tragedy would strike just years later. When he was 21, Macdonald was left with severe head injuries after being involved in a nasty car crash that rendered his boxing career over before it had even started. ‌ But since then he found things outside acting, buying up a locksmith in Surrey in 2000, with his old Grange Hill days coming in useful for mustering up business. He added: 'I went round local estate agents, and they would go: 'Zammo!' A lot of the work now I've got is from it.' His website for the business even has the moniker: 'Just say no to the rest!' But despite the locksmith business paying most of the bills, in more recent years, he's still been popping up on our television screens - most notably with small roles on EastEnders, The Bill and Neighbours. In June last year, the actor also shared his health battle with the world, revealing that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer after spotting an "unusual spot on my face". Posting to social media he added: "As we get older please keep an eye on anything unusual and hopefully get it looked at early!!! Booked in to get it sorted over the next couple of days."
