UFC on ESPN 72 video: Joselyne Edwards rips vicious combo to KO Priscila Cachoeira

Joselyne Edwards is turning into a finishing machine. Inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas at UFC on ESPN 72, Edwards (16-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC) faced Priscila Cachoeira in what looked to be an all-action women's bantamweight bout on paper. It turned out to be exactly that for as long as it lasted. Edwards put together a finishing combination to knock out Cachoeira (13-6 MMA, 5-6 UFC) at 2:24 of the first round. Edwards gave Cachoeira something to think about early by shooting for a takedown immediately. Cachoeira defended it well, and brought the fight to Edwards by constantly marching forward. However, her hyper-aggression would soon be her downfall. As Cachoeira marched forward swining big punches, she failed to keep her defense tight, allowing Edwards to rip vicious counter combinations. A hard left-right combo from Edwards sent "Zombie Girl" crashing to the canvas midway through the round. Check out the replay of the finish below (via X): Make it three straight finishes for Edwards. She entered the fight with momentum of a third-round submission of Tamires Vidal and a first-round TKO of Chelsea Chandler. On the other side, Cachoeira has been finished in three of her last four fights. Up-to-the-minute UFC on ESPN 72 results: Joselyne Edwards def. UFC Vegas 109 weigh-ins disaster: Three fighters miss weight, Anthony Hernandez succeeds on second try

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) just wrapped its early weigh-ins for the tomorrow night's (Sat., Aug. 9, 2025) UFC Vegas 109 mixed martial arts (MMA) event which is scheduled for the promotion's APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately, it was anything but a smooth affair, as three of the card's 24 combatants failed to make their assigned weight on the first attempt. Pivotally, one of half of the Middleweight main event, Anthony Hernandez, weighed in at 186.5 pounds on his first attempt. 'Fluffy' enters this bout riding a seven-fight win streak, and this is his first five-round opportunity in the UFC, so it's really quite pivotal that he makes the most of the moment. Fortunately, Hernandez did return and make the weight on his second attempt, so his bout versus Roman Dolidze will move forward without issue. Check out his first attempt below: On the 'Prelims' portion of the card, two more fighters missed weight as well. Joselyne Edwards tipped the scale at 136.25 pounds. She's already missed weight on two previous occasions as a UFC fighter. She's scheduled to square down with Brazilian slugger (and notorious cheater) Priscila Cachoeira. Finally, Julija Stoliarenko also missed weight via a quarter of a pound, weighing in at 126.25. She'll face Brazil's Gabriella Fernandes tomorrow, and it's worth noting Stoliarenko looked a little shaky on the scale — bettors beware! Both Edwards and Stoliarenko have about half an hour to hit the mark remaining. If they do, expect an immediate update right here. For complete UFC Vegas 109 weigh ins results and video click here. Priscila Cachoeira on differences between pressure and responsibility after crucial UFC Fight Night 254 knockout

LAS VEGAS – Priscila Cachoeira beat Josiane Nunes with a first-round knockout Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC Fight Night 254 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Take a look inside the fight with Cachoeira, who said her knockout win was the last fight on her current deal, and hence came at just the right time. Priscila Cachoeira def. Josiane Nunes Result: Priscila Cachoeira def. Josiane Nunes via knockout (punch) – Round 1, 2:46 Updated records: Cachoeira (13-6 MMA, 5-6 UFC), Nunes (10-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) Key stats: Cachoeira has all eight of her stoppage wins by knockout. Cachoeira on the fight's key moment 'She brought a lot of pressure, and I definitely felt she was strong. But I knew I had my chances. I also tried to connect on the counter. But I knew my uppercut was going to be there. It was something my coaches told me. I knew I was going to have chances to use it, and I got it in and got my knockout.' Cachoeira on pressure 'Of course I'm going to feel a little bit of pressure. I was also fighting the last fight on my contract. So that added another layer of pressure, but at the end of the day, I worked as hard as I could. The adrenaline doesn't really let you feel pressure or fear. I did feel the responsibility because it was my last fight (on my contract), we had lost two (straight), and I had all my team and we had been working very hard.' Cachoeira on what she wants next 'I feel just fine. I've got no damage at all and I'm ready for the call. A month, month and a half? I just want to fight.'
