Today, climate change remains a defining issue, with Asia being home to millions at risk from extreme weather and rising sea levels. Gender gaps continue to widen and are projected to take 123 years to achieve full gender parity globally. Medical inflation in Asia is forecasted to outpace the global average in 2025 and straining already-stretched health systems. Nearly one in seven young people faces unemployment. These are not just statistics, they are urgent calls to action, demanding more than conversation. They require decisive, collective action. Our flagship AVPN Global Conference 2025 is a much-needed platform for business leaders, investors, policymakers and impact organisations to come together and drive transformative change. We look forward to bringing the Conference to Hong Kong and working together with The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Together, we are on a mission to move from dialogue to solutions, collaborate across boundaries, and invest in the sustainable, equitable Asia that we all envision.' Spotlight on Impact Investing Impact investing has reached a defining moment in Asia, with assets under management (AUM) globally surpassing USD 1.57 trillion, and Asia-focused investors managing over USD 38 billion. This momentum is driven by Asia's challenges such as climate resilience, health impact, gender equality and diversity, equity and inclusion; alongside its projected contribution of over 60% to global economic growth by 2030. A major highlight of this year's Conference is the Impact Investing Day, which will be held on the second day (10 September 2025). It is an entire day dedicated to impact investing, making it the largest such forum in Asia. This is a clear signpost of the sector's explosive growth and its critical role in addressing the region's most urgent challenges, and the Conference will showcase how impact investing is uniquely positioned to unlock scalable solutions for Asia's future. Gautam Adani, Family Attend Grand Jagannath Rath Yatra In Puri
Puri: Industrialist Gautam Adani and members of his family were present in Odisha's Puri today to attend the annual Rath Yatra, one of India's most significant religious festivals. Accompanied by his wife Priti Adani and son Karan Adani, the Adani Group chairman participated in the rituals associated with the procession of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra. The billionaire and his family also took part in preparing the prasad that will be served at the temple. The Adani Group is assisting pilgrims and local authorities during the nine-day festival, which draws millions of devotees to the coastal city. The support initiative, coordinated by the Adani Foundation, includes large-scale meal distribution, provision of drinking water, safety gear for workers, and collaboration with local volunteers and institutions. The initiative follows a similar outreach earlier this year during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, where the Group supported food distribution and services for pilgrims in partnership with religious and civic bodies. From June 26 to July 8, the Adani Group has committed to providing an estimated four million meals and beverages to devotees, volunteers, and frontline workers. These are being distributed through multiple designated food counters set up across Puri. Cool beverage stalls have also been established to help pilgrims manage the intense summer heat in Odisha. In addition to food and water, the group has distributed fluorescent vests to municipal workers, T-shirts for volunteers, and rainwear, including jackets, caps, and umbrellas-for security personnel and devotees. Lifeguards affiliated with the Puri Beach Lifeguard Mahasangha are also receiving logistical support. The seva, or voluntary service, is being undertaken in coordination with the Puri district administration, ISKCON, and various local civil society organisations.

Indian billionaire Gautam Adani visits China amid US legal challenges to boost renewables
The visit, including to a solar module maker, underscores Adani's continued efforts to maintain momentum in renewables even as he faces heightened scrutiny abroad. Sagar Adani, who oversees the green arm of the conglomerate's sprawling empire, accompanied his uncle on the trip, according to a social media post by one of the companies he visited. The trip to China could signal a renewed push for international engagement as Gautam Adani tries to shake off controversies, from US legal troubles to investor concerns about corporate governance practices, following a bruising short-seller report in early 2023. Asia's second-richest person, along with his nephew Sagar, face criminal and civil charges in the US over their alleged involvement in a US$250 million bribery scheme to pay regional officials in India to lock in solar-power contracts. The Adani Group has denied the claims, though both Gautam and Sagar have curtailed their international travel since the indictment was announced.
