KOTA: A portion of a false ceiling at a private school's auditorium in Rajasthan's Bundi fell during Independence Day celebrations on Friday, leaving five students injured, officials said. They were rushed to a hospital where two children, among the five, received stitches on their heads and were discharged after primary medical care, they said. "A portion of the false ceiling of the auditorium in St. Paul's Senior Secondary school in Bundi fell on Friday morning when the Independence Day function was going on," Chief District Education Officer (CDEO) Priti Bala Sharma told PTI. The injured kids were identified as Aadira Panjwani (6), Aarna Jhakal (11), Shreshthi (10), Twinkle Soni (13) and Vinay Tehlwani (8), the officer said. The children were not sitting directly under the portion of the false ceiling that fell; however, hard paper sheets of the false ceiling flung around, she added.

KOTA: At least five kids sustained minor injuries after a portion of the false ceiling of the auditorium fell on Friday morning while the Independence Day ceremony was underway in a private senior secondary school on Chittor Road under Bundi Sadar police station. The kids were reportedly not directly under the part of the false ceiling that fell; however, they were rushed to Bundi district hospital, where two of them received 2-3 head stitches and all five were discharged after primary medical care. On report of the incident, Bundi district education officer and others reached the hospital and school and took stock of the situation. At least 350 students, 250 parents and 49 staffers of the school were present in St. Paul's Senior Secondary School on Chittor Road in Bundi city on Friday morning when the mishap occurred. Portion of false ceiling of auditorium in St. Paul's Senior Secondary School in Bundi fell down on Friday morning when the Independence Day function was going on, chief district education officer (CDEO, Secondary), Bundi headquarter, Priti Bala Sharma, reached the school after the mishap and told TOI. At least five kids sustained minor injuries in the mishap and were rushed to Bundi district hospital, where two of them received stitching on the head and all five kids were discharged after primary medical care, she said. The kids were not sitting directly under the portion of the false ceiling that fell; however, hard-paper sheets of the false ceiling flung around, she added. The technical team of the district education department has surveyed the spot and an inquiry in the matter has been ordered. Meanwhile, the auditorium has been seized, the CDEO said. The CDEO added that a survey by the department was conducted in all government school buildings; however, the private school buildings were left out of the survey and pointed out the auditorium and private school building, where the mishap has occurred, were in sound condition. Meanwhile, state education minister Madan Dilawar ordered an inquiry in the matter. The injured kids were identified as Aadira Panjwani (6), Aarna Jhakal (11), Shreshthi (10), Twinkle Soni (13) and Vinay Tehlwani (8).
