Punjab Kings Star Priyansh Arya Scripts History, Becomes First T20 Batter To...
After a string of low scores, batter Priyansh Arya returned to form with a blistering century for the Outer Delhi Warriors against East Delhi Riders in the ongoing Delhi Premier League. PLaying at the iconic Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delh, Priyansh played a brilliant knock of 111 off 56 balls and helped the Warriors reach 231/7 in 20 overs. The 24-year-old batter, who represented Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, had an amazing DPL 2024 season where he scored 608 runs in 10 innings. Despite having a slow start to the 2025 season, Priyansh made a solid comeback with a century and also registered a historic feat. With this ton, he became the first batter to score more than one century in DPL. In IPL 2025, Priyansh truly lived up to the expectations of his fans as he scored 475 runs in 17 innings at a blistering strike rate of 179.25. His tally also included one century, which came against Chennai Super Kings. Chasing a towering target of 232, the Riders reached the finish line with four balls to spare, pulling off the highest successful chase in DPL history. Earlier in the day, Outer Delhi Warriors made a statement with the bat, riding on a sensational century from opener Priyansh Arya, who smashed 111 off 56 balls. His innings was laced with 7 fours and 9 sixes, and provided the perfect platform for a massive total. He was well supported by Karan Garg, who chipped in with a fluent 43 off 24 balls, helping their side post a daunting 231/7 in 20 overs. IPL has brought more maturity to my game: Priyansh
There was no bigger advertisement for the Delhi Premier League (DPL) in its inaugural season than Priyansh Arya's soaring success. The opening batter's 608 runs in 10 innings for South Delhi Superstarz, including six sixes in an over, acted as the springboard for Punjab Kings to shell out ₹3.8 crore in the IPL auction for his services. The 23-year-old southpaw delivered a high return on investment in his maiden IPL season, scoring 475 runs in Punjab's runner-up finish. Having done all that, it is only natural that Priyansh's return for the second season of the DPL, which gets underway on August 2, will garner a lot more eyeballs. He will feature for Outer Delhi Warriors, one of two new franchises in this year's DPL. Asked whether there is greater pressure to perform this season, Priyansh was just as uncluttered with his response as he is with the bat in hand. 'The pressure is as much as I want to take on myself. If you can keep things simple, it will be beneficial,' Priyansh told The Hindu on Wednesday. While Priyansh's ability to back his naturally attacking instinct is one of his strengths, he believes there is more to his batting now than just aggression. 'You have to play according to the situation. I have learnt that from the IPL,' he said. 'You can't keep hitting, you have to play as per the match circumstances. There is more maturity in my game now because of the IPL.' Parthiv roped in as mentor Outer Delhi Warriors has roped in former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel as mentor. The 40-year-old, who retired from all formats in 2020, also serves as assistant coach for Gujarat Titans in the IPL.

Punjab Kings' batter Priyansh Arya scripts massive milestone in IPL 2025 final
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 3 (ANI): Punjab Kings' young sensation Priyansh Arya shattered Devdutt Padikkal's record for the most runs by an uncapped Indian batter in a debut Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Priyansh came out to open for Punjab in the final of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the world's largest cricket stadium, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In pursuit of Bengaluru's daunting 191-run target, Priyansh provided a quick-fire start and struck 24 from 19 deliveries, laced with four boundaries. He finished the season with a tally of 475 runs from 17 appearances at 27.94. The 24-year-old surpassed Padikkal's tally of 473 for most runs by an uncapped Indian batter in the debut IPL season. It took a stunner from Phil Salt at the edge of the boundary rope off Josh Hazlewood on the final delivery of the fifth over. He tried to flick the ball away for a maximum, but his attempt was intercepted by the English top-order batter. Salt released the ball in the air before crossing the boundary rope and then returned to the field to complete the catch. Even though Priyansh provided the required tempo, Punjab failed to gun down Bengaluru's competitive total. Throughout the chase, Punjab kept itself in the affair but kept losing wickets at regular intervals, which hurt their chances of lifting their maiden title. At the end, PBKS fell six runs short, which ensured that the wait for the title continued for Punjab, who reached their first final in 11 years under the exceptional leadership of Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting. While it was agony for Punjab, skipper Rajat Patidar steered RCB to its first trophy in 18 years. With the end of adding the coveted IPL title to RCB's trophy cabinet, the special moment was met by tears in Virat Kohli's eyes. (ANI)
