Boulder GOP chair slams 'tolerant' policies enabling terror after Molotov attack

Following a recent terror attack in the heart of Boulder, Colorado, the county's GOP chair said local and state officials who enacted policies protecting individuals in the U.S. illegally are trading the law for tolerance. Illegal Egyptian national Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, was arrested Sunday after allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails into a crowd of peaceful pro-Israel demonstrators near the Boulder County courthouse while yelling, "Free Palestine." Authorities said eight people suffered burn injuries, and a total of 12 people were injured in the attack, which happened on the eve of Shavuot. Boulder Terror Attack Witness Describes 'Horrific' Scene At Pro-israel Rally "I find it interesting that with all of the things that have happened in Boulder, the one thing that's drawing out the most press and getting the most news is antisemitism," Boulder County Republicans Chairman Peg Cage told Fox News Digital. "Antisemitism is a big deal right now, and that person was guilty of that, and he admitted it himself. But if you look at what he did, it was when he was done with the United States." Immigration authorities confirmed Soliman overstayed his non-immigrant visa, which was granted during the Biden administration. However, he never left, filing a claim with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services just one month after his arrival in the country. On March 29, 2023, Soliman was granted work authorization, which was valid through March of this year. "I mean, he waited until his daughter had graduated, and he had nothing to lose," Cage said. "He was here illegally, and then he committed the crime." The attack took place near an event held by "Run for Their Lives," a worldwide grassroots organization that advocates for the release of Israeli hostages held since Oct. 7, 2023. The local Run for Their Lives chapter gathers in Boulder weekly. Soliman, who authorities claim drove an hour to commit the act of terror, allegedly said after the attack "he would do it…again." Boulder Terror Attack Suspect Said He Wanted To Kill 'All Zionist People,' Used Molotov Cocktails: Feds "Frankly, if he hadn't been in the heart of Boulder, somebody probably would have shot him, because we're that way here," Cage said. "The reactions that I'm seeing, it rather confirms the America-first agenda of our president and of our Republican Party. … I think [crimes involving illegal immigrants are] just becoming more pronounced, and it's making us side more with our side." Pointing to policies enacted by local and state officials, she questioned the disregard for immigration law in the name of tolerance. "Basically, this wasn't a surprise as much [as], it's just like, thank God nobody got killed, and dang, why didn't somebody get him out of here when he first overstayed his visa," Cage said. "Why aren't we following our laws. … They're too tolerant, and they think it's a good thing." She added that contradictions to President Donald Trump's directives are plainly visible on the Boulder County website and in public settings. "If you go on to the Boulder County website, it's basically how to stay here if you're illegal," Cage said. "We had this Cinco de Mayo event, and the booth next to ours was how to avoid [Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and] how to report an upcoming ICE event that you might know about. … So, no, I'm not surprised. I'm disgusted. It needs to stop, and it makes that come clearer into focus." He is also facing federal charges for allegedly committing a hate crime involving actual or perceived race, religion or national origin. Timeline exposes Boulder suspect's movements before allegedly carrying out firebomb attack on pro-Israel group

Officials allege Mohamed Sabry Soliman targeted a peaceful pro-Israel protest on Sunday in what is being described as a terror attack that left 12 people injured. Soliman's journey to the United States began in August 2022 when he arrived in the country on a B1/B2 visa and was supposed to leave in February 2023, but the Biden administration gave him work authorization through March 2025, two months before he was accused of injuring 12 people at a pro-Israel peaceful protest in Boulder, Colorado. Soliman allegedly told federal and local law enforcement officials that he targeted a "Zionist group" that gathered in Boulder because he wanted to stop them from taking over "our land," which he said is "Palestine." Soliman allegedly told law enforcement that he had been planning the attack for a year, waiting until after his daughter graduated to carry it out. Here's a timeline of Soliman's journey to the United States: Boulder Terror Attack Suspect Showed Signs Of Growing 'Lone-wolf' Radicalization, Says Former Fbi Supervisor Soliman flew into Los Angeles International Airport on a B1/B2 non-immigrant visa on Aug. 27, 2022, sources told Fox News. Read On The Fox News App Sources told Fox News that Soliman made some kind of claim through United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, which was possibly for asylum. Sources told Fox News that Soliman's B1/B2 visa was set to expire on Feb. 26, 2023, but he didn't leave the country. Boulder Suspect Spent A Year Planning Molotov Cocktail Attack On Pro-israel March: Docs United States Citizenship and Immigration Services gave Soliman work authorization on March 29, 2023, which was valid for around two years, sources said. Soliman began driving for Uber in the spring of 2023, a spokesperson for the company told Fox News Digital. Uber said Soliman met all requirements to drive for the company, which include passing a criminal and driving history background check, holding a valid Social Security number and providing a photo ID. One of Soliman's neighbors told Fox News Digital that Soliman was "not home that often" because he was "working really hard." A Veros health spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Soliman began working at the company in its accounting department. "He was hired in our accounting department. He went through a hiring process with ADP, our employer [Professional Employer Organization]. At the time of hire, he was confirmed to have a valid work visa, which was noted to expire in March 2025," the spokesperson said. Soliman's employment with Veros Health ended in August 2023, according to a company spokesperson. "We can confirm that Mohamed Soliman worked with Veros from May 2023 to August 2023," the spokesperson said. Soliman's work authorization ended in March 2025 after it was granted under the Biden administration in March 2023, sources said. Soliman was accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at the pro-Israel group "Run for Their Lives" as they were protesting for the release of Hamas' hostages. Twelve people were injured. Soliman was charged with first-degree murder, crimes against at-risk adults/elderly; first-degree assault, criminal attempt to commit class one and class two felonies, and use of explosives or incendiary devices during a felony. Former FBI special agent Jonathan Gilliam told Fox News Digital he's concerned the Biden administration didn't do a good enough job at vetting Soliman when he first came to the United States. "When we look at the border and how open the border was for over four years, literally wide open," Gilliam said. "The problem with individuals like this guy…is that they are presenting themselves as activists. They're presenting themselves as altruistic and acting out for a cause for the greater good." Gilliam said it's likely Soliman has harbored "hatred" for a period of time, but chose to act out on it now. "He came from an area where the hate is taught his entire life, of America, of Israel," Gilliam said. "He planned the event for a year, but he already had the hatred inside of him. So you're just seeing them act out on something that is already inside of them." Boulder illegal immigrant terror suspect worked in healthcare field, as rideshare driver before attack

The Egyptian national suspected of injuring 12 people in a firebombing during a pro-Israel rally in Boulder, Colorado, on Sunday worked in the healthcare industry and as a rideshare driver before committing the heinous act. Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, first came to the United States on a non-immigrant visa in August 2022. When that visa expired in February 2023, he remained in the country. The following month, he was granted a work visa, which was valid through March of this year. Fox News Digital has learned that Soliman worked in accounting at a medical practice called Veros Health, headquartered in the Denver suburb of Centennial, for a brief period at the beginning of his lawful work stay in the country. At the time of hire, he was confirmed to have a valid work visa, which was noted to expire in March 2025." Earlier this year, Soliman began working as a rideshare driver. Soliman met all the requirements per Colorado state law, Uber said. He also had no concerning feedback while driving for the platform, according to Uber, which has since banned his driver's account and contacted law enforcement. Soliman is accused of using makeshift incendiary devices, including a flamethrower and Molotov cocktails, in an attempt to burn pro-Israel demonstrators alive on Sunday. A group of "Run for Their Lives" advocates had gathered at the Pearl Street Mall to raise awareness about Israeli hostages still held captive by Hamas terrorists in Gaza before they were viciously attacked. Ex-Mumford & Sons guitarist criticizes music industry for silence after Boulder antisemitic attack

Former Mumford & Sons guitarist Winston Marshall said Monday he is "disappointed" by the music industry's failure to condemn Hamas following a brutal antisemitic attack that unfolded in Boulder, Colorado over the weekend. Speaking on "Fox & Friends First," Marshall called the attack "horrific" and "unsurprising," especially in light of the recent murders of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C. nearly two weeks ago. "My frustration isn't just at the horrific things that we see, but the failure by certain parts of the country to acknowledge it's even happening…" he said. Liberal, Pro-israel Comedian Says There's A Double Standard For Celebrities Who Back The Jewish State "What do you think they mean when they say, 'globalize the Intifada?' If you have these big groups chanting this, then there will be individuals like this case in Boulder who will actually act on it," he said. Egyptian national Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, was arrested by authorities on Sunday after he allegedly set his victims on fire as they peacefully rallied on behalf of Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas in Gaza. He was heard yelling "Free Palestine" and other anti-Israel slogans during the attack on victims ranging in age from 52 to 88. Read On The Fox News App Marshall criticized high-profile examples of what he sees as the music industry failing to condemn such violent acts while some embrace pro-Palestinian messaging. In one recent case, rock band Imagine Dragons set social media ablaze after lead singer Dan Reynolds waved a Palestinian flag on stage during a concert in Milan, Italy. Video clips of Reynolds picking up a Palestinian flag and waving it before draping it across his shoulders at the concert's end racked up millions of views and drew mixed reactions on social media. Radiohead Singer Confronts Anti-israel Protester During Concert: 'Come Up Here And Say That' He also kissed the flag and threw it back into the crowd. "I'm disappointed by also the reaction in the music industry where I have spent my career so regularly," Marshall said. "I should also note there are 58 hostages still in Gaza, 23 of whom are still presumed alive. Why is it that these protesters aren't protesting against Hamas? It is in their interests. If you are pro-Palestine, you should be anti-Hamas. If you're pro-Israel, you should be anti-Hamas. Hamas are literally killing Palestinians themselves. It seems like a complete moral inversion, and… I don't quite know how [to] get into that frame of mind because it's so twisted to me." He went on to say the slew of antisemitic violence is "very dark" to see in America. The band Imagine Dragons sets social media ablaze after waving Palestinian flag at Milan concert

Rock band Imagine Dragons set social media ablaze after lead singer Dan Reynolds waved a Palestinian flag on stage during a concert in Milan, Italy on Tuesday. Video clips of Reynolds picking up a Palestinian flag and waving it before draping it across his shoulders at the concert's end racked up millions of views and drew mixed reactions on social media. Read On The Fox News App Liberals also applauded the band for appearing to take a political stand while they poked fun at the band over their dislike of their music. "Omg Radiohead has now been lapped by IMAGINE DRAGONS?!?" Stand-up comedian Matt Lieb wrote in a post that reached over two million views. Lieb was referring to the band Radiohead telling off an anti-Israel heckler during a show last October. "Imagine Dragons are now on the very short list of respectable celebs," another person praised. Radiohead Singer Confronts Anti-israel Protester During Concert: 'Come Up Here And Say That' But Jewish fans of the band and pro-Israel commentators expressed their disappointment and outrage. "It looks like the band 'Imagine Dragons' supports terrorism," ACT for America Chairman Brigitte Gabriel wrote. "You know it's moments like these where I genuinely don't know what to do with myself anymore... I actually really liked Imagine Dragons, But now it seems they genuinely hate my people," one Jewish fan posted, adding, "It's disgusting how people still view Palestine as a moral virtue when it's all a myth." One popular post by a Jewish woman who says her grandparents were Holocaust survivors accused the band of "waving their solidarity with terrorists." "They're calling for 'gay rights' and 'Free Palestine,'" her post continued. "Essentially, they just called for the deaths of all gay people — and their music career. Goodnight, Imagine Dragons." The band is outspoken about its support for the LGBTQ community and Reynolds waved "Progress Pride" flags at previous shows. During the Milan concert, Reynolds also waved a Ukrainian flag. The band faced blowback for playing in Israel in August 2023, before the October 7 Hamas terror attacks. During a July 2024 interview with Rolling Stone, Reynolds said he didn't have any regrets about playing shows in Israel and in Azerbaijan. "I don't believe in depriving our fans who want to see us play because of the acts of their leaders and their governments. I think that's a really slippery slope. I think the second you start to do that, there's corrupt leaders and warmongers all over the world, and where do you draw the line?"
