Hyderabad Airport Metro Rail okays DPRs for 3 corridors of Phase 2B, Telangana govt nod awaited
The Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of the proposed Phase 2B of Hyderabad Metro Rail for three corridors — Jubilee Bus Station (JBS)-Medchal, JBS-Shameerpet, and Airport-Future City — have been approved by the Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) board, officials said on Thursday. The proposed corridors span a length of 86.1 km and are estimated at a cost of ₹19,579 crore. According to N V S Reddy, managing director of HAML, the DPRs are currently under review by the Telangana government. 'Confidentiality needs to be maintained on certain aspects related to these until the state government approval is received, and therefore, full details cannot be provided at this time,' he said. However, he added that several aspects have been included in the DPR, along with transforming JBS into an international hub as per the directions of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He revealed that the JBS-Medchal route will be a fully elevated corridor of 24.5 kilometres with 18 stations whereas the JBS Station-Shameerpet route will be a 22-kilometer corridor with 14 stations. This route will be 20.35 km elevated and 1.65 km underground. The Metro MD said that the underground route will be near the Hakimpet Airport. RGIA-Future City (Skill University) is 39.6 kilometers, of which 1.5 km will be underground from the airport, 21 km elevated, and 17 km at grade. He stated that it would be from Shamshabad International Airport to Skills University via Pedda Golconda and Raviryala ORR exits. N V S Reddy reiterated that the second phase (B) DPRs have been comprehensively prepared and submitted to the state government, keeping in view the central government guidelines, Metro rail construction estimates in other states, and the traffic needs of Hyderabad city. He stated that full details will be given once the state government approves the DPRs and submits the proposal to the Central Government. The HMRL currently operates three corridors covering 69 km and is the largest public-private partnership Metro rail project in the world. Under Phase-1, the HMRL has been operating LB Nagar to Miyapur, Nagole to Raidurgam, and JBS to MGBS corridors for the last five years. The stretch between MGBS to Falaknuma has not materialised, mainly due to objections to property acquisition and route alignment issues, and the new government has taken up this stretch along with the rest of the Phase 2 corridors. Under phase 2, significant expansion to existing Metro rail corridors is planned for about 76 km at an estimated cost of Rs 24,269 crore. These include Miyapur to Patancheru (approximately 13.4 km) with about 10 stations; Nagole to Shamshabad Airport via LB Nagar and Chandrayangutta (approximately 29 km) with 24 stations; Raidurg to Kokapet (approximately 8 km) with eight stations; LB Nagar to Hayathnagar via Vanasthalipuram (approximately 7.1 km) with 6 stations; and MGBS to Falaknuma (approximately 7.5 km) with six stations.

DPRs for Metro Phase-2 (B) approved, with JBS hub, new corridors planned for Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) Managing Director NVS Reddy has said that the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for Metro Phase-2 (B) have been finalised and approved by the HAML Board on May 8 and are now under government review. He said the DPRs include plans to develop JBS as an international hub, as directed by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The proposed corridors, JBS-Medchal, JBS-Shamirpet and RGIA-Future City, span 86.1 km at a cost of Rs 19,579 crore. The JBS-Medchal route will be a 24.5 km fully elevated corridor with 18 stations. The JBS-Shamirpet line will cover 22 km with 14 stations, 20.35 km elevated and 1.65 km underground near Hakimpet Airport. The RGIA-Future City (Skill University) corridor will stretch 39.6 km, 1.6 km underground, 21 km elevated, and 17 km at grade, connecting RGIA to Skill University via Pedda Golconda and Raviryala ORR exits. NVS Reddy said the DPRs were prepared in line with Central guidelines, Metro cost benchmarks in other states and Hyderabad's traffic needs. Full details will be released once the state government approves the reports and forwards them to the Centre, he added.

DPRs finalised for JBS-Medchal, JBS-Shameerpet, & RGIA
Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) has informed that the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of the proposed Phase 2B of Hyderabad Metro Rail for JBS-Medchal, JBS-Shameerpet, and Airport - Future City Metro corridors — spanning 86.1 km with an estimated cost of ₹19,579 crore — have been finalised. The DPRs for these proposed corridors for the next phase were prepared and approved by the Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited Board on May 8, 2025. They are currently under review by the State government, said Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy, in an official press release on Thursday (May 22, 2025). 18 stations on the 24.5 kms JBS- Medhcal route The JBS Station - Medchal route will be a fully elevated corridor of 24.5 kilometers with 18 stations while the JBS Station - Shameerpet route will be a 22-kilometer corridor with 14 stations. Centre plans 25 new ropeway projects across 10 states to boost connectivity and tourism
NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has started preparing comprehensive reports to check scope and feasibility of the development of at least 25 ropeway projects in 10 states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Arunachal Pradesh. The sites identified to introduce aerial transport system include Ooty (Tamil Nadu), Boyakonda Gangamma Temple (AP), Mullayyana Giri (Karnataka), Shirgul Mahadev Temple (Sirmour, Himachal Pradesh), Palampur Thathri-Chhunja Glacier (Himachal Pradesh), Hempeupet Peak (Assam), Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (Assam), Shivneri Fort (Junnar, Maharashtra) and Amer Fort-Nahargarh Fort (Jaipur, Rajasthan). The National Highways Logistics Management Limited, the agency entrusted with the work for development of ropeways projects under Parvatmala Pariyojana, will soon appoint consultants for preparing Detailed Project Reports for these projects. The agency is a wholly owned company of NHAI, which functions under the ministry. The 24-km ropeway in Assam, connecting Khanapara to Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, is significant because of its length. Most of them aim to improve accessibility to religious and historic sites. For DPRs, the assessment of the sites and the length of the proposed ropeway with Lower Terminal Point will be finalized. The review will also help in taking decision whether the length is to be increased or reduced considering site specific local factors. To improve last-mile connectivity in remote and hilly regions, the Centre in the 2022 Budget announced the National Ropeways Development Programme.
