Saudi Arabia Launches Initiative to Localize Kaaba Kiswa Silk Production
In a groundbreaking move, Saudi Arabia has unveiled an ambitious initiative aimed at localizing the production of natural silk for the Kiswa of the Holy Kaaba. Attendees at the fifth annual forum for development initiatives in the regions' principalities, held at the King Salman International Convention Center, were introduced to this pioneering project. Jazan Leads Silk Production Drive Furthermore, the Jazan Mountains Development Authority presented this strategic project. Crucially, the initiative directly addresses the sourcing of natural silk. Instead of importing this precious material, Saudi Arabia will now cultivate and produce it domestically. This vital effort supports the revered Kiswa and Sacred Chamber coverings. Moreover, the Authority established a key partnership with the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. Under this collaboration, the Jazan Mountains Development Authority will manage the entire raw silk production process. Importantly, they will supply the King Abdulaziz Complex for the Holy Kaaba Kiswa with material meeting exact project specifications. Boosting Economy & Heritage Visitors explored this initiative prominently at the Jazan Region pavilion. The Madinah Region Principality organized the two-day forum. This initiative aims to enhance spiritual awareness and offer convenient access to religious knowledge through modern, user-friendly technology. These interactive screens enable female worshippers and pilgrims to explore Islamic literature, access fatwas, and download religious content in 19 international languages—serving the diverse backgrounds of the Grand Mosque's visitors. Dr. Aisha Al-Aqla, the undersecretary for Women's Affairs at the Grand Mosque, highlighted the agency's commitment to expanding smart services across all sectors. She noted ongoing efforts to increase the number of screens to create a more comprehensive religious and educational environment. Each screen currently provides access to over 62 digital Islamic book titles, contributing to a richer and more fulfilling spiritual journey for female visitors. Prophet's Mosque Launches Operational Plan For Hajj Season 1446 AH
MADINAH, May 13 (Bernama-SPA) -- The Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque on Monday launched a multi-pillar operational plan for the Prophet's Mosque during the 1446 AH Hajj season, aimed at promoting moderation and conveying the humanitarian message of pilgrimage. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the plan encompasses 100 enriching awareness initiatives and five smart enrichment pathways to enhance the digital experience for Hajj pilgrims. Additionally, it features 20 enriching pathways covering seven religious specialities, designed to convey the message of Hajj to the world in multiple languages, while supporting the Prophet's Mosque's message of moderation and balance. bootstrap slideshow The plan is built on three main pillars. First, it leverages the sanctity of the Hajj time by emphasising the significance of the Hajj pilgrimage and its global message of moderation. Second, it enhances the sanctity of place by sharing the guidance of the Holy Mosques with the world. Finally, it provides a rich spiritual experience focused on quality, excellence, and innovation within a structured framework. These efforts aim to align with the moderate message of Hajj and its global impact. In his speech during the launch of the plan, Head of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque Abdulrahman Al-Sudais affirmed that the Prophet Mosque's religious affairs agency has dedicated all its resources to serve the Hajj pilgrims and ensure a unique spiritual experience. Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque is holding 'First House' exhibition in 10 languages during Ramadan 2025 with the aim of shedding light on the history of the construction of the Holy Ka'aba throughout the ages, starting from the era of the Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, until the present day. The exhibition, being held in the third Saudi expansion of the mosque, is a unique opportunity for visitors and pilgrims to explore the stages of building the Holy Ka'aba through visual displays, motion graphics, and historical artifacts. In addition, interactive screens provide information in Arabic and English, enriching the cognitive experience of attendees. It also includes several main themes shedding light on various features of the Holy Ka'aba. They include the construction of the Holy Ka'aba, the changes that occurred to it over the ages, the tools used in its maintenance and washing, and the stages of making its covering. This exhibition comes as part of the efforts of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques to enrich the experience of the Guests of God and to acquaint Muslims with the history of the Grand Mosque and the Holy Ka'aba.
