The High Court raised the maintenance amount from Rs 80000 per month to Rs 4 lakh with their ruling earlier this week. After this big court ruling, a video of former model and IPL cheerleader Hasin Jahan, where she is seen dancing in a white sari has gone viral on Instagram. Hasin, who got married to Mohammed Shami in 2014 and separated in 2018, had posted this video a week back in which she is seen dancing to the song 'Aa Kahin door chale jaayein…' by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. 'A person with a wrong mindset, who has crime in his mind, and who pushes his own family, wife and children towards trouble, and who was never anything and suddenly a lot happens, these people get arrogance and attitude. They develop such an attitude that they themselves do not know which path they are standing on, what they are doing and why they are doing it. Right now, he (Shami) is completely consumed by pride. The day that pride fades, he will remember his wife, his daughter, and all his wrongdoings. As of now, because of that arrogance, he has made no effort to contact me or our daughter. Hasin Jahan had approached High Court The former model and actress had approached the Calcutta High Court when then District Court ordered Mohammed Shami to pay Rs 80000 per month back in 2023. 'In my considered opinion, a sum of Rs 1,50,000 per month to the petitioner no.1 (wife) and Rs 2,50,000 to her daughter would be just fair and reasonable to ensure financial stability for both the petitioners, till disposal of the main application,' the order passed by Justice Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee on Tuesday stated. 'However as regards petitioner's child the husband /opposite party No 2 will always be at liberty to voluntarily assist her with educational and/or other reasonable expenses, over and above the aforesaid amount,' the order added. Hasin Jahan had filed an FIR against Mohammed Shami in 2018 Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Shami's ex-wife Hasin Jahan had filed a FIR against the cricketer back in 2018 for domestic violence. She had alleged 'enormous physical and mental torture' under Section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violation (PWDV) Act, 2005 and 'sustained indifference and neglect' of her minor daughter. Besides domestic violence, she also accused Shami of dowry harassment and match-fixing while alleging that Shami had stopped shouldering financial responsibility for running her family expenses. Shami was bought for Rs 10 crore by Kavya Maran's Sunrisers Hyderabad at the IPL 2025 mega auction last year. He claimed six wickets in 9 matches in the IPL 2025 season.

This allegation comes after the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday ordered Shami to pay Hasin and daughter a combined monthly alimony of Rs 4 lakh as maintenance. Hasin will have to be paid Rs 1.50 lakh per month, while the daughter will get Rs 2.50 lakh per month. Speaking to news agency IANS, Hasin said that "fame and arrogance" have ruined Shami's mindset. Indian pacer Mohammed Shami's estranged wife on Monday said that the cricketer forced her to quit modelling and become a housewife after she married him. Hasin Jahan's statement came after the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday directed Shami to pay his estranged wife and daughter a monthly alimony of Rs 4 lakh as maintenance during the ongoing legal battle with his spouse. Jahan had moved the high court against a district sessions court's order directing the cricketer to pay Rs 50,000 to his wife and Rs 80,000 to her daughter in 2023. Since she does not earn, Jahan said Shami has to bear all the responsibility for her maintenance. Jahan also said that given the status Shami enjoys, she and her daughter have the right to maintain the same standard of living. 'I used to model and act before I got married. Shami forced me to quit my profession. He wanted me to live only a housewife's life. I loved Shami so much that I happily accepted it… But now I have no earnings of my own. Shami has to bear all the responsibility for our maintenance. That is why we had to approach the court when he denied this. Thank God there is a law in our country which orders people to bear their responsibilities… If you are entering a relationship with someone, it is not written on their face that they have a poor character, are a criminal, or will play with your and your daughter's future… I too became a victim like this," she told ANI. After the High Court's ruling, Jahan's advocate Imtiaz Ahmed said, 'It was the best moment for Hasin Jahan. From 2018 to 2024, she had been running from pillar to post… Ultimately, it was pronounced in open court yesterday that Rs 1.5 lakh would be provided for Hasin Jahan, Rs 2.5 lakh for the daughter (both to be paid monthly), and that any time the daughter requires assistance, it would be provided by Md Shami." 'The High Court has directed the trial court to dispose of the main application of the interim order within six months. There is a high chance that when they return to the trial court to conclude the hearing on maintenance, it might be upgraded to Rs 6 lakh because the claim of Hasin Jahan in her maintenance application was for Rs 7 lakh and Rs 3 lakh," he added. "In view of materials placed before me and considering the elements for the determination of the quantum of maintenance as held in the salutary judgments, I am of the view that the quantum of interim monetary relief as fixed by the court below requires revision," the high court order stated. "The opposite party/husband's income, financial disclosure and earnings established that he is in a position to pay a higher amount. The petitioner's wife, who has remained unmarried and is living independently with the child, is entitled to a levelled maintenance that she enjoyed during her continuance of marriage and which reasonably secures her future as well as the future of the child," it went on to add.

The maintenance amount saw a significant jump from the previously agreed figure of Rs. 1.30 lakh, which was decided on the basis of a district sessions court order in 2023. As soon as the news became public, Shami's fans sympathised with him on social media, saying the cricketer shouldn't have been forced to pay such a high amount as maintenance. The judge, however, explained the order saying the figure was decided keeping in mind Shami's earnings, his daughter's future and the lifestyle his estranged wife Hasin Jahan was enjoying before the two parted their ways. "The opposite party/husband's income, financial disclosure and earnings established that he is in a position to pay a higher amount. The petitioner wife who has remained unmarried and is living independently with the child is entitled to a levelled maintenance that she enjoyed during her continuance of marriage and which reasonably secure her future as well as future of the child," the Bench said, as per Bar And Bench. "Therefore, while it is true that the question of awarding an excessive amount of monetary relief does not arise, awarding a very low amount also cannot be accepted," the judge was quoted as saying by the Times of India. Hasin Jahan also thanked the court for finalising Rs 4 lakh as maintenance amount, saying the figure would help her get their daughter admitted to a better school, which wasn't possible earlier. "I have lost almost everything while fighting for my rights in the last seven years. I couldn't admit my daughter to a better school. I am thankful to the court," Jahan told the paper after the order.
