Costco item has been disappearing from shelves and fans are furious

A popular Costco item has been vanishing from shelves and then reappearing and customers are growing frustrated. There are many Kirkland Signature items that have been popularized in recent years, thanks to Costco bloggers and TikTokers. Costco's famous private brand has produced some classics like the highly sought-after Protein Bars and chocolate chips. Now, the wholesaler has been causing upset by removing - and then reintroducing - a common household staple. Kirkland Signature's organic soy beverage has been a go-to for those looking for a dairy-free milk alternative, but lately, it's unclear whether they're trying to phase out the product. They wrote: "What's going on with the Soy Milk?" prompting over 100 responses from others who were wondering the same thing. "This is kind of an existential crisis for me," wrote u/oh2climb, "because we've been buying that for around 20 years now. Buying similar products at other retailers is [much] more expensive. Don't know what I'll do." According to, u/Schrodingerscactus, a Costco representative told them that the soy milk was being pulled due to poor sales. However, Tasting Table reached out to Costco's customer service and was told that the store's "suppliers and buyers could not agree on a price" to give customers the lowest possible pricing on the product. The dairy-free milk alternative is a fan-favorite (Image: Costco) The customer service representative offered some silver lining, saying "That does not mean it is gone forever, [as] we are just in negotiation" with the supplier. They provided no timeline for when customers may expect to enjoy their favorite soy beverage again. And while there are a number of alternatives at Costco, customers seem unimpressed. On the reddit thread, u/mothman_fan said that the replacement soy milk was "very watery," adding that "it also has a light amount of grit in it which was off-putting." Costco has fallen back into favor with loyal shoppers lately after they released an exciting new sweet treat just in time for summer. Afters Ice Cream, a Southern California ice cream brand, has concocted an ice cream bar version of Dubai chocolate exclusively for Costco.
