Dangerous U-turn that went viral leads Kluang police to driver who nearly caused crash (VIDEO)
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 — Police have arrested a 51-year-old local man for driving against traffic at a busy junction in Kluang, Johor, following a viral video clip showing the incident. The 24-second video, which was circulated on Facebook, shows a Proton Exora being driven against the flow of traffic at a slip road near Taman Megah. According to Kluang police, the incident occurred at around 4pm on Aug 4 at KM57.4 of Jalan Batu Pahat–Mersing. The man was seen exiting Taman Megah and dangerously using the incoming lane at the slip road in an attempt to join the Mersing-bound traffic. His actions nearly caused a collision with another car entering the same road. Traffic enforcement officers from the Kluang district police headquarters arrested the suspect on Aug 6 after identifying him from the video. Police said the suspect tested negative for drugs following a urine test. The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a maximum five-year jail term and a fine of between RM5,000 and RM15,000 upon conviction.

Car destroyed in fire at Kampung Kapa

The Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station received the call at 4.09pm and arrived at the scene, located 25km away, at 4.35pm. The nine-member team led by PBK II Easter Hassan brought the blaze under control by 4.40pm using a single hose reel from their fire engine. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident, which also involved the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). Houses razed in Ranau, Penampang

RANAU: A family lost all of their possessions after their house and cars were razed, early Monday. Head of the Ranau BBP Station, PPgB Rantey Fred, said the incident happened in Kg Poring Jalan Hot Spring Ranau at about 1am. According to him, a call was received through the station line and a group of seven firemen, led by the Operations Commander, PBK II Becket Gumat, rushed to the location. 'Arriving at the scene located 19km from the station, we found a two-storey non-permanent house and three vehicles, namely, a Proton Exora, Suzuki Jeep and Perodua Kancil engulfed in flames. 'The firemen extinguished the fire by using two 200ft jets of water from the machinery tank. Unfortunately, the house and cars were destroyed,' he said, adding that the operation ended at 3.30am. In PENAMPANG, semi-permanent house was partially destroyed in a fire that broke out along Jalan Sindanan, early Monday. The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department said the Penampang Fire Station received an emergency call at 9.17am via the MERS999. A team of seven firefighters, led by Operations Commander PBK II KUP Marcus Junior, was dispatched to the scene, located 3km from the station. They were assisted by six personnel from the Kota Kinabalu Fire Station using two fire engines, an EMRS unit and a water tanker. The house was 30 per cent destroyed. 'The fire was brought under control by 9.38am and the operation ended at 10.20am,' the department said in a statement. A 37-year-old man suffered breathing difficulties and was treated on the scene by the EMRS team. Close shave for 16 people involved in six-vehicle crash in Bidor
IPOH: Sixteen people, including four children, cheated death in a six-vehicle crash at Km341.5 of the southbound lane of the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Bidor tonight. Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said a team from Bidor Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the location 15 kilometres away after the department received a distress call at 7.26 pm. "The crash involved five cars and a five-ton lorry carrying fish, and there were no victims stuck or with serious injuries, only dizziness and trauma. "The accident is believed to have happened when the lorry could not brake in time and hit the Proton Exora, which then hit the other cars," he said in a statement tonight. Eight men, including an Arab man driving the Proton Exora, along with four women and four children were involved in the crash, he said. The four victims who suffered trauma and dizziness were taken to hospital by ambulance for further treatment and operations ended at 8.20 pm. The official PlusTrafik X account meanwhile announced that the vehicles involved in the accident have been moved and both the right and left lanes that were temporarily closed have been reopened to traffic, but traffic was still slow moving. – BERNAMA
