A pair of On3 reporters are forecasting Pryce Sandfort to land with rival Nebraska. On3 national reporter Joe Tipton and Husker Online's Robin Washut each submitted On3 recruiting predictions for Sandfort to eventually commit to the Huskers. Advertisement Sandfort averaged 8.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game with Iowa last season while shooting 48.8% from the field and 40.0% from 3-point range across 33 games for the Hawkeyes. In 65 career games over his two seasons in Iowa City, Sandfort totaled 365 points, 129 rebounds, 57 assists, 23 steals and 12 blocks while shooting 45.5% from the field and 38.6% from 3-point range. The 6-foot-7, 210 pound forward knocked down 73 3-pointers in his two seasons in the black and gold, including 56 a season ago. But, the Waukee Northwest product entered the NCAA transfer portal following Iowa's firing of former head coach Fran McCaffery. Sandfort arrived in Iowa City as a four-star signee in the 2023 class. Nebraska Men's Basketball - Transfer Portal Tracker The Nebraska men's basketball team has been busy working on the transfer portal over the past week. In the span of four days, they added three new players to the roster. Head Coach Fred Hoiberg has been adamant about using the transfer portal to build his team's roster. The Huskers only have one freshman, Quentin Rhymes, who signed with the 2025 high school recruiting class. With the departures of Juwan Gary and Brice Williams, Nebraska has been looking for incoming transfers who can make an immediate impact. According to 247Sports, the Huskers' three commits have the 2025 transfer portal class ranked No. 50 in the nation and No. 12 in the Big Ten. He will be able to provide multiple things for the program, most notably, scoring. He averaged 16.2 points last season and 7.3 rebounds per contest. He shot 53.7% from the field and 71.8% from beyond the arc. For his efforts last season, he earned first-team All-MAC honors. The guard announced his decision on Tuesday. He averaged 9.9 points for the Rams, to go along with 2.5 assists per game. He was also able to refine his three-point shot while with the Rams, as he shot 39% from beyond the arc. He started his career in Lincoln in the 2022-23 season before transferring out following his sophomore season. Pryce Sandfort becomes third Iowa player to enter portal
March 17 - Iowa sophomore forward Pryce Sandfort became the third Iowa player to put his name into the transfer portal following the firing of head coach Fran McCaffery on Friday. Sandfort, who averaged 8.8 points in 33 games (two starts) this past season, announced his plans on social media Monday. His brother, senior Payton Sandfort, was tied for the team lead with 16.7 points per game. "I want to thank coach McCaffery and the staff for being there for me every step of the way and giving me the opportunity to play for my home state," Pryce Sandfort posted in a statement. "It has been truly special the past two years to wear the black and gold and share the court with my brother." The younger Sandfort joins two more sophomores in Owen Freeman and Brock Harding, who have also entered the transfer portal. Freeman also averaged 16.7 points this past season, while Harding also averaged 8.8 points. Iowa finished 17-16 after a 106-94 setback to Illinois on Thursday in the second round of the Big Ten tournament. McCaffery was ejected after being assessed two technical fouls for arguing with the officials. Per an Iowa statement Friday, the university was set to begin a national search for a new head coach immediately.

Sandfort brothers lead Iowa in 83-68 win over Nebraska in must-win game to reach Big Ten Tourney
Associated Press LINCOLN, Neb.. (AP) — Payton Sandfort scored 22 points, his brother Pryce knocked down four 3-pointers and Iowa pulled away in the second half to beat Nebraska 83-68, on Saturday, knocking the Cornhuskers out of the Big Ten Conference Tournament field and claiming the final slot for itself on the final day of the regular season. The Hawkeyes (16-15, 7-13) entered the game one slot out of the field and needed the win to climb into a five-way tie for 14th with Nebraska (17-14, 7-13), Minnesota, USC and Northwestern. After Rutgers beat Minnesota in overtime Sunday, Wednesday's first-round games will be Northwestern-Minnesota, Iowa-Ohio State and USC-Rutgers. Nebraska jumped to an 18-10 lead eight minutes into the game but Josh Dix answered with a layup and Drew Thelwell, Pryce Sandfort and Brock Harding each knocked down a 3 to put Iowa in front. The Cornhuskers tied the game at 31-31 on a Berke Buyuktuncel layup but Pryce Sandfort hit from deep and knocked down a jumper and Payton Sandfort scored twice to send Iowa into the break with a 40-35 lead. The Hawkeyes pulled away steadily in the second half. Pryce Sandfort's 3 seven minutes pushed the lead to 10, 57-47. Senior Payton Sandfort was 9 of 18 from the field, including 2 of 9 from deep, and grabbed eight rebounds. Sophomore Pryce was 5 of 9 from the floor, including 4 of. 6 from 3, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished three assists. Dix finished with 15 points and four assists. The Hawkeyes shot 31 of 63 from the floor and were collectively 11 of 28 from distance. Juwan Gary led Nebraska with 24 points, converting 8 of 9 from the line, and grabbed seven rebounds.
