Dubai Opens Registration for Global Self-Driving Transport Congress
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened registration for the fourth edition of the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport, scheduled for 24–25 September 2025. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the event aims to advance the emirate's vision of redefining urban mobility through autonomous technology. Themed Redefining Mobility: The Path to Autonomy , the congress will spotlight Dubai's ambitious goal of transitioning 25% of its transportation to autonomous systems by 2030. Organised by the RTA, the event is expected to draw a global audience of industry leaders, government officials, and technology innovators. Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of the Public Transport Agency and Chair of the Organising Committee, said the congress has become a key global platform for showcasing breakthroughs in self-driving technology. 'Thanks to the tremendous success of the previous editions, the event continues to attract major international players and experts in the field,' he noted. This year's congress will also feature the announcement of the winner of the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport 2024. The top-performing consortium will be awarded $3 million for presenting the most innovative integrated autonomous mobility solution. Participants in the challenge include both solo entities and consortiums, each aiming to unify various autonomous transport systems under one seamless service model. RTA to launch new Dubai–Sharjah intercity bus with AED 12 fare
Commuting from Dubai to Sharjah? The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced the launch of a new intercity bus route connecting the two emirates for more convenient travel. Starting May 2, 2025, the newly introduced Route E308 will operate between the Stadium Bus Station in Dubai and Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah, with a one-way fare set at AED 12. According to Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA's Public Transport Agency, the new route is part of RTA's ongoing efforts to expand the public bus network and improve integration with other modes of transport, including the metro, tram, and marine services. The improved routes are as follows: Route 17: Now terminates at Baniyas Square Metro Station instead of Al Sabkha Bus Station. Route 24: Re-routed within the Al Nahda 1 area. Route 44: Re-routed from Al Rebat Street to serve Dubai Festival City. Route 56: Extended to reach DWC Staff Village. Routes 66 & 67: A new stop added at Al Ruwayah Farm area.
