RTA launches new intercity bus route between Dubai and Sharjah
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is launching a new intercity bus service, Route E308, connecting Stadium Bus Station in Dubai to Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah, effective 2nd May 2025.
The fare for a one-way journey is set at Dhs12.
Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA's Public Transport Agency, said that RTA is committed to expanding the public bus network and improving its integration with other transit modes, such as the metro, tram, and marine transport.
"Enhancing intermodal connectivity is central to positioning public transport as the preferred choice for mobility across the emirate,' he added.
Effective 2nd May, RTA will implement enhancements to several bus routes by rerouting services to offer passengers a smoother, more efficient, and comfortable commuting experience. The improved routes are as follows:
Route 17: Now terminates at Baniyas Square Metro Station instead of Al Sabkha Bus Station.
Route 24: Re-routed within the Al Nahda 1 area.
Route 44: Re-routed from Al Rebat Street to serve Dubai Festival City.
Route 56: Extended to reach DWC Staff Village.
Routes 66 & 67: A new stop added at Al Ruwayah Farm area.
Route 32C: Service between Al Jafiliya Bus Station and Al Satwa Bus Station has been curtailed. Passengers travelling to Al Satwa may use Route F27 for continued service.
Route C26: The bus stop has been moved from Al Jafiliya Bus Station to Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 2.
Route E16: Now terminates at Union Bus Station instead of Al Sabkha Bus Station.
Route F12: The section between Al Satwa Roundabout and Al Wasl Park has been curtailed; route now re-routed via Kuwait Street.
Route F27: Bus stop relocated from Al Jafiliya Bus Station to Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 2.
Route F47: Re-routed within Jebel Ali Industrial Area.
Route F54: Extended to serve the new JAFZA South labour camp.
Route X92: Bus stop moved from Al Jafiliya Bus Station to Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 1.

It includes the upgrade of six intersections and the construction of five tunnels totalling 3,850 metres. The road will be widened from two to three lanes in each direction, which is expected to reduce travel times by 50 per cent and increase capacity from 8,000 to 12,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. 'Al Wasl Road Development Project forms part of a master plan developed by the RTA to upgrade the road network in the area, which also includes enhancements to Umm Suqeim and Al Safa Streets,' said Mattar Al Tayer, DG and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Read: Al Wasl project: Tunnels and intersection upgrades The Al Wasl Road project includes upgrades to intersections at Al Thanya, Al Manara, Umm Al Sheif, Umm Amara, Al Orouba, and Al Safa Streets. A three-lane unidirectional tunnel will be built at the Al Manara intersection, branching into two routes with a combined capacity of 4,500 vehicles per hour. A two-lane tunnel on Umm Al Sheif Street, spanning 750 metres, will accommodate 3,200 vehicles per hour. A 700-metre tunnel at Umm Amara Street will feature two lanes in each direction with a total capacity of 6,400 vehicles per hour. A unidirectional, two-lane tunnel at Al Orouba Street will head toward Jumeirah Street, while a 750-metre tunnel at Al Safa Street will serve two-way traffic, each with a capacity of 6,400 vehicles per hour. The Al Satwa roundabout will be converted into a signalised junction, and surface-level enhancements will be implemented at five intersections along Jumeirah Street. Expanding the corridor The Al Wasl Road initiative complements a broader RTA plan to upgrade Umm Suqeim Street from Jumeirah Street to Al Khail Road, boosting capacity from 12,000 to 16,000 vehicles per hour. Travel times are expected to drop from 20 minutes to six minutes. The area serves over two million residents. The upgrade includes six intersections and will involve four bridges and three tunnels totalling 4,100 metres. Key features include a tunnel with two lanes in each direction at the intersection with Jumeirah Street, and a tunnel at Al Wasl Road for traffic from Sheikh Zayed Road to Jumeirah Street. Two bridges at Sheikh Zayed Road will eliminate traffic weaving, and a tunnel at First Al Khail Road will aid traffic from Al Barsha towards Sheikh Zayed Road. An extra lane will be added between First Al Khail and Al Asayel Street, while two elevated ramps will facilitate access to Al Khail Road and the Al Quoz Industrial Area. Al Qudra Road upgrades RTA is also progressing with upgrades from Al Khail Road to Emirates Road via Umm Suqeim Street and Al Qudra Road. A key feature is an 800-metre tunnel at Al Barsha South with four lanes in each direction. Al Qudra Road itself will be upgraded along an 11.6 km stretch, including several intersections and bridges totalling 2,700 metres. Travel times along this section are expected to fall from 9.4 minutes to 2.8 minutes. 'These projects form a blueprint for smart and sustainable mobility in Dubai,' said Al Tayer, noting that the areas covered are among Dubai's most vibrant, home to beaches, hotels, restaurants, and residential communities.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced an integrated project to upgrade Al Wasl Road. The initiative also aims to address urban expansion, accommodate population growth, and enhance the quality of life for both residents and visitors. The street will be widened from two to three lanes in each direction. Eid Al Adha parking rules and Metro timings announced
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has announced revised Metro and bus schedules for Eid Al Adha, while motorists will also be able to park free of charge to mark the festival. Charges will be waived in public parking areas, except in multistorey car parks, during the occasion. The Eid holiday will begin on Thursday, June 5, and end on Sunday, June 8. All Dubai Metro stations on the Red and Green lines will run from 5am until 1am from Wednesday, June 4, to Saturday, June 7, the authority added. The Dubai Tram will run from 6am to 1am on the same days. It comes as employees in the public and private sectors are to be granted leave from Thursday, June 5, to Sunday, June 8, with work resuming on Monday, June 9. Revised bus routes Route E100, from Al Ghubaiba to Abu Dhabi, will be suspended from Wednesday, June 4, until Sunday, June 8. The authority has advised the public to use route E101 as an alternative, with the service running as normal from Ibn Battuta Bus Station to Abu Dhabi. Route E102, meanwhile, will run directly from Al Jafiliya Bus Station to Zayed International Airport, skipping the Ibn Battuta and Musaffah stops. Commuters are encouraged use the S'hail app to view up-to-date schedules during the Eid holiday. Closures All RTA Customer Happiness Centres will be closed until Monday, June 9.
