TTD begins renovation of Talakona Siddeswara Swamy temple
Tirupati: Towards preserving heritage temples, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has initiated the renovation of the historic Sri Siddeswara Swamy temple at Talakona in Yerravaripalem mandal. The Bhoomi Puja for the first phase of works, estimated at Rs 19 crore, was performed on Monday in the presence of TTD Trust Board Chairman BR Naidu, District Collector Dr S Venkateswar, and Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani. Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said that, under the guidance of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the State government and TTD are prioritising the reconstruction of ancient temples as part of the promotion of Sanatana Dharma. 'I have often heard of Talakona's spiritual significance, and now, seeing it in person, I feel this renovation will add immense value for devotees,' he said. The first phase of works will cover the Garbhalayam (sanctum sanctorum) of Sri Siddeswara Swamy, the Ardha Mandapam, Sri Parvati Devi Garbhalayam, and the Maha Mandapam. TTD has already sanctioned Rs 2 crore for these works, with the State government's approval. 'Further financial support will be released in phases for subsequent development,' Naidu assured. In the later stages, TTD plans to develop the Mukha Mandapam, Nandi Mandapam, Raja Gopuram, Sri Subramanyeswara Swamy Temple, Sri Vinayaka Swamy Temple, Navagraha Mandapam, Sri Abhaya Anjaneya Swamy Temple, Dhwaja Mandapam, office rooms, storerooms, Potu, Kalyana Katta, Pushkarini and other facilities. District Collector Dr Venkateswar said efforts are being made to complete the renovation before the upcoming Maha Sivaratri festival. He thanked TTD for sanctioning the necessary funds for the project. MLA Pulivarthi Nani recalled that the temple, believed to date back to the 15th century, remained neglected due to its remote location. 'Though some donors had helped construct gopurams, the local people have long sought proper development. Now, with TTD's support, that dream is finally becoming a reality,' he said. TTD Board Member V Santha Ram, Chief Engineer Satyanarayana, SE Manoharam, EE Jaganmohan Reddy, temple Executive Officer Ravindra Raju, local representatives and several devotees participated in the programme.

Rs 1.53 cr Chandragiri sports centre works begin
Tirupati: The construction of the incomplete Sports Development Centre at Government Boys School in Chandragiri resumed on Monday. Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman A Ravi Naidu and Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani laid foundation stone to restart the works, which are estimated to cost Rs 1.53 crore. Speaking at the event, SAAP Chairman Ravi Naidu said the coalition government is committed to encouraging students to excel not only in academics but also in sports. He criticised the previous administration, claiming that the centre's development was hindered by selfish political motives. MLA Pulivarthi Nani noted that the coalition government began various development projects in Chandragiri constituency immediately after assuming office. Restarting the Sports Development Centre is part of the broader agenda, he said, adding that the constituency has seen 937 development programmes initiated within the past year. He blamed the previous YSRCP government for the halt in construction, citing delayed contractor payments despite approved bills. He instructed the contractor to ensure the centre is completed promptly and with high quality.

Chandragiri MLA assures support for mango farmers
Tirupati: Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani visited Mango Nagar in Damalacheruvu of Pakala Mandal on Sunday, where he interacted with local mango farmers and reviewed their issues first-hand. During his visit, the MLA assured the farmers that the coalition government is committed to supporting mango growers across the undivided Chittoor district. He stated that the government is prepared to release nearly Rs 200 crore in dues to benefit mango farmers. 'Farmers need not lose hope. The government will pay an additional Rs 4 per kg for the entire stock, down to the last kilogram,' he said. Nani informed the farmers that he had brought their concerns to the government's attention, which prompted Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu to visit Damalacheruvu recently. He also promised to hold discussions with representatives of mango pulp industries to secure better rates for farmers. To ease logistical challenges, the MLA said special teams have been deployed at procurement ramps to ensure smooth operations. He directed officials from the Horticulture, Agriculture, and APM departments to remain stationed at Mango Nagar and assist farmers promptly. In addition to agricultural concerns, MLA Nani addressed flood-related issues at Ravillavari Palle panchayat of Ramachandrapuram Mandal. He visited the village and inspected the Brahmana Canal, which has been causing flooding in the area. The MLA instructed irrigation and revenue officials to survey the canal immediately and begin preventive works. He announced that projects worth Rs 35 lakh would soon be launched to protect local farmers and residents from future flooding.

Yoga meets heritage at Chandragiri Fort
TIRUPATI: The historic and scenic Chandragiri Fort hosted a vibrant Yoga session on Wednesday as part of the Yogandhra 2025 initiative, in the run-up to International Yoga Day on June 21. The event witnessed participation from various officials and citizens, led by District Collector Dr S Venkateswar and Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani. Addressing the gathering, Dr Venkateswar stressed the importance of incorporating yoga into everyone's daily routine. Yoga sessions are already being organised at various levels including secretariat and ward levels, with efforts focused on training and creating awareness among the public. 'So far, around eight lakh people have registered for yoga sessions across the district,' he said, highlighting the massive scale of the campaign. The Collector also said that yoga is being promoted at key tourist destinations to both encourage public health and showcase the importance of such heritage sites. The programme at Chandragiri Fort was part of this initiative, successfully combining wellness with tourism promotion. He urged people to maintain discipline in their daily exercise and lifestyle habits through yoga. Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani stressed that health is a vital aspect of every citizen's life. 'People are increasingly relying on various medications, which may affect health in the long run. Practicing yoga can help preserve good health naturally,' he said. Nani also shared that steps are underway to develop Chandragiri Fort further with the help of a renowned light and sound show agency, which is expected to boost the site's tourism appeal. The event saw participation from several dignitaries including State Yadava Corporation Chairman G Narasimha Yadav, TUDA Chairman C Divakar Reddy, Joint Collector Shubham Bansal, DRO G Narasimhulu, Tirupati RDO Ram Mohan, Regional Director of Tourism Ramana Prasad, District Tourism Officer Janardhan Reddy and officials from various departments. A large number of women, students and mandal-level officials also took part in the programme, marking it a grand success.
