Protesters disrupt Dy CM Ajit Pawar's speech
PROTESTERS SUPPORTING Bachchu Kadu's hunger strike disrupted Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's speech in Pune on Saturday. Pawar was in Pune for the inauguration of Pune Model School and model primary health centre as well as for the Excellent Teacher Award distribution ceremony. As soon as he began his speech, a group of protesters interrupted him and pressed their demands. Pawar asked the police to let the protesters speak after the police began dragging them out. Prahar Janshakti Party founder Bachchu Kadu has been on an indefinite hunger strike over demands relating to loan waiver for farmers and disability rights issues. Soon after the incident at Pawar's event, Kadu called off his hunger strike on the seventh day after getting assurances from the state government. Responding to the protestors, Pawar said, 'Yesterday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis sent Amravati Guardian Minister Chandrashekar Bawankule as a representative of the state government to have a discussion with Kadu. Bawankule himself called up Fadnavis and had Kadu speak with him. The CM assured Kadu that a committee has been formed, of which Kadu will also be a part, which will look into his demands. The committee will submit its report before the state government, and accordingly what ever will be possible will be done in the Cabinet.' Not satisfied by the response, the protestors continued shouting their demands at the event on Saturday. Pawar then ordered the police personnel to move the protestors. Speaking at the inauguration of Pune Model School and a model primary health centre in Pune on Saturday, Pawar said, 'In the district, every gram panchayat and sarpanch should take responsibility for schools in their villages. '…At the end of the day, this is not the responsibility of just the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, or the education department. It is the responsibility of all of us.
