PM inaugurates Nagpur–Pune Vande Bharat Express, travel time comes down to 12 hours
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday inaugurated the Nagpur–Pune Vande Bharat Express by flagging it off through video conferencing. The ceremony was organised at Platform No 8 of the Central Railway Station in Mumbai in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari. MLAs Mohan Mate, Krishna Khopde, Praveen Datke, Central Railway General Manager Dharmveer Meena, Divisional Railway Manager Vinayak Garg, and other Central Railway officials were also present on the occasion. The Prime Minister flagged off the Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune train through video conferencing. At the same event, he also inaugurated the Bengaluru–Belagavi and Katra–Amritsar Vande Bharat Express trains. The Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune Vande Bharat Express will make it possible to cover the distance from Nagpur to Pune in about 12 hours, thus saving considerable travel time compared to earlier. On its journey from Nagpur to Pune, the Ajni–Pune Vande Bharat Express will halt at Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahilyanagar and Daund stations, before reaching Pune via the Daund chord line.

PM Modi after inaugurating three new Vande Bharat trains NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday flagged off three new Vande Bharat Express trains from KSR Bengaluru railway station, further expanding India's semi-high-speed rail network. The new services — Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune, KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi, and Shree Mata Vaishnodevi Katra-Amritsar — are aimed at cutting travel time, boosting tourism, and improving passenger convenience. 150 Vande Bharat trains now operational The new additions — take the total count of Vande Bharat trains running across India to 150, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Fastest train on Bengaluru–Belagavi route The Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express is the 11th such service in Karnataka. Numbered 26751/26752, it will cover the 611 km journey in 8 hours and 20 minutes, making it the fastest train between the two cities. Railway officials said it will save around 1 hour and 20 minutes from KSR Bengaluru to Belagavi and 1 hour 40 minutes on the return trip compared to existing services. It will run six days a week, except Wednesday. The route links Bengaluru, India's Silicon City, with Belagavi, a hub of premier medical and engineering institutions, fostering economic and educational opportunities. It passes through Karnataka's sugarcane belt and major cities such as Dharwad, Hubballi, Haveri, Davangere, and Tumakuru, benefiting students, professionals, farmers, and traders. Officials said the train will promote economic growth and cultural exchange across the region. Following the inauguration, a special train (06575) departed from KSR Bengaluru to Belagavi at 11:15 AM on Sunday, reaching at 8:00 PM with stops at Yesvantpur, Tumakuru, Davangere, SMM Haveri, SSS Hubballi, and Dharwad. Maharashtra gets its 12th Vande Bharat The launch of the Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune service has given Maharashtra its 12th Vande Bharat train. Central Railway officials said the service will benefit regular business travellers, students, and tourists while boosting trade and commerce. Longest-running Vande Bharat in the country The Ajni–Pune Vande Bharat Express will be the longest-running in the country, covering 881 km. It will also be the fastest train between Nagpur and Pune, with an average speed of 73 km/h and 10 intermediate stops. Vaishno Devi to Amritsar in 5.5 hours The Shree Mata Vaishnodevi Katra-Amritsar Vande Bharat (train number 26406) will connect the Shrine to Amritisar with runtime of 5 hours 40 minutes. It'll originate from Shree Mata Vaishnodevi Katra (SVDK) at 6.40 am, reaching Amritsar at 12.20 pm. PM Modi flags off 3 Vande Bharat trains in Bengaluru; Belagavi gets second semi-high-speed train
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated three Vande Bharat trains running from Bengaluru to Belagavi in Karnataka, Ajni (Nagpur) to Pune in Maharashtra, and Katra in Jammu and Kashmir to Amritsar in Punjab. Now, 75 Vande Bharat trains are operational across the country. Modi flagged off three trains from the Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Bengaluru station at 11.30 am. There are already seven Vande Bharat trains running from the Bengaluru station, and this will be the second Vande Bharat train for Belagavi. Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru, said there was a constant demand for this service from Belagavi to Bengaluru. 'This is the eleventh Vande Bharat train for Karnataka. We are expecting full ridership on the train. This is the fastest train on the route, covering 611 km in just eight and a half hours, about one hour and 20 minutes less than other trains. This service links Belagavi, known for its medical and engineering institutions, with Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India. According to the Railways, the train, passing through a rich sugarcane belt, is expected to foster economic growth and provide connectivity to diverse communities. The train travels through Dharwad, known for educational institutions; Hubballi, a major commercial and industrial centre; Haveri, a growing agricultural hub; Davangere, renowned for its textile and agricultural contributions; and Tumakuru, an emerging industrial and educational centre. Of the other two trains, the Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune Vande Bharat Express will cover the Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Akola, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, and Pune districts. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Amritsar Vande Bharat Express will cover Reasi, Jammu, Pathankot, Jalandhar, and Amritsar. As many as 6.3 crore passengers have travelled through Vande Bharat trains since its first commercial journey on February 17, 2019, between New Delhi and Varanasi.
