Traders' committee chairman meets industry leaders
Ludhiana: Punjab govt is actively working towards creating a conducive business environment, with efforts ongoing to promote its growth and prosperity, chairman of Punjab State Traders Commission (department of excise and taxation), Anil Thakur, said Monday. He met representatives from industrial associations at Bachat Bhawan here, who took up the issues of faster refund processing and stricter measures to prevent the transportation of goods without proper billing with him. Speaking about govt initiatives aimed at bolstering the industrial sector, Thakur encouraged those present to provide suggestions for further improvements. Work for the proper upkeep of the focal points across the state has already begun, he said. He added that he has held more than 100 meetings in assembly constituencies across Punjab so far, and addressed the concerns of traders. He announced that a one-time settlement (OTS) scheme would soon be introduced to resolve their issues. He urged industrialists to directly contact officials of the relevant department to get their grievances promptly redressed, noting that the Punjab govt has already issued directives to ensure transparent administrative services. Industrialists thanked Thakur for taking the time out to meet them and give them a patient hearing.

Punjab traders' body head meets bizmen, vows to address issues
Ludhiana: The chairman of Punjab State Traders Commission (excise and taxation department), Anil Thakur , called a meeting with the city's business community Friday to listen to their grievances. Presiding over the meeting at the local Bachat Bhawan, Thakur discussed issues related to GST, district mobile wing, and excise matters, engaging with various traders, businessmen and industrialists. He emphasised on the need to foster a cordial relationship with the trading community to enhance tax revenue collection. Thakur said Punjab govt has achieved a 62% increase in GST revenue and a 63% rise in excise revenue . He noted that the one-time settlement scheme, introduced for resolving pending dues of VAT system, has benefited 70,311 dealers, providing relief worth Rs 867 crore. Stating that Punjab govt is committed to resolving justifiable issues and demands of traders and industrialists, he directed GST and excise wing officials to address shortcomings in tax collection promptly. He also urged traders and industrialists to deposit taxes honestly and on time to contribute to Punjab's progress and prosperity, strengthening the state's treasury. He underscored the commission's role as a bridge between the Punjab govt, traders and industrialists, stating that he is visiting every district to listen to their concerns for resolution at the govt level. tnn
