Punnichy RCMP investigating after multiple guns stolen on Muskowekwan First Nation

(David Prisciak/CTV News) RCMP in Punnichy are investigating after a break-in resulted in several guns being stolen from a home on Muskowekwan First Nation. On Friday, July 4, RCMP officers responded to a home on the First Nation following a reported break and enter. Officers discovered that a suspect or suspects broke into the home and caused 'extensive damage.' The suspect or suspects also stole a dark grey gun cabinet containing four guns. The firearms are described as a .308 bolt-action rifle, a .22 pump rifle, a 12-gauge Weatherby shotgun and a 16-gauge double-barrel shotgun. A hunting knife and ammunition were also stolen from the home. Punnichy RCMP believe the break-in occurred sometime on July 4 between 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The investigation into the incident continues. Anyone with information about the incident or who witnessed any suspicious activity on the First Nation on the afternoon of July 4 is asked to contact Punnichy RCMP or submit an anonymous tip to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers. Muskowekwan First Nation is located approximately 140 kilometres north of Regina.

Two injured, including RCMP officer, after collision near Punnichy, Sask.
Saskatchewan RCMP are continuing to investigate after a police vehicle collided with a truck on Highway 15 near Punnichy on Wednesday. On June 4 around 11:10 a.m., a two-vehicle collision was reported near the rodeo grounds on Muskowekwan First Nation. Officers responded along with local paramedics and STARS Air Ambulance. Police determined that a marked RCMP vehicle and a truck had collided. The officer was taken to hospital by STARS for injuries described as 'serious but non-life-threatening.' There were no passengers in the RCMP vehicle at the time of the crash. The driver and sole occupant of the truck was taken to hospital non-life-threatening injuries, RCMP said. Highway 15 was temporarily closed due to the incident. Punnichy RCMP continue to investigate with the help of a collision reconstructionist. Muskowekwan First Nation is located approximately 150 kilometres north of Regina.

Police vehicle involved in serious collision on Muskowekan First Nation

The Saskatchewan RCMP says it is on the scene of a serious collision involving a police vehicle by the rodeo grounds on Muskowekan First Nation near Punnichy, Sask. An RCMP news release says the collision between two vehicles occurred on Highway 15. The release did not say if the police vehicle involved belongs to the RCMP or not. Highway 15 is closed for an undetermined amount of time with detours in place, the release said. Road closure updates can be found on the Highway Hotline. Punnichy, Sask. is about 127 kilometres north of Regina.
