Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary hosts grand re-opening after months of renovations

A local adoption center held a celebration Saturday morning. The Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary had a grand re-opening after months of renovations. Purista Cat Cafe celebrating three years with weekend of cat-ivities The renovations that began last April are aimed at providing a better experience for the cats, volunteers and visitors. These renovations include adding a wellness clinic to the building. 'The amount of support along the way so that this could actually become possible has been amazing. Our supporters really came and provided an abundance of donations so that this is possible,' said Mary Grace Lacoste, executive director of Orphan Angels. While it's been a long hard winter for some, the white stuff means more green for ski resorts. Folks at Peek'n Peak welcomed snow-mageddon with open arms and have been enjoying a profitable season ever since. After two mild winters, the white powdery stuff shovelers dread was causing smiles all around at Peek'n Peak resort. 'It's been an incredible year for us I mean starting out with the early season snow and the cold temperatures throughout the month of January. It's been phenomenal for us this year. It's been 180 degree difference from last season,' said Ryan Moyer, snow sports school manager, at Peek'n Peak Resort. 'Yeah, we heard that there's 200 plus inches already which surmounts the last two years total,' Joe Graceffo, a skier. A local vocal ensemble sent extra love to their director during the 19th year of bringing a musical tradition to life. Collegiate Academy vocal jazz ensemble delivered over 50 singing valentines Friday. Purista Cat Cafe celebrating three years with weekend of cat-ivities The high school vocalists have been preparing music with complicated parts since the beginning of the school year. This year is extra special to the students, that's becuase at the end of the school year, their director is retiring. Remember to keep those Valentine's Day treats away from pets 'There's something so special about making a delivery and seeing how it impacts the person receiving it, we've made deliveries to people who are having serious health issues and it's just a way to brighten their day. We've made deliveries to people who have just gotten engaged lots of happy tears,' said Susan Huster, vocal director for Collegiate Academy. Mercy Women's Center serves up free lunch in Perry Square

The Mercy Center for Women served up a lunch of hot soup and bread for people in need on Friday. Volunteers and staff members lined up in Perry Square Friday morning to provide a warm meal on a cold winter day. Collegiate spread love with singing valentines Along with the main course, people were offered coffee, a variety of snacks, things like sleeping bags, but also the opportunity to connect with critical programming. 'So this is our third year doing the soup and bread event. We love coming out on Valentine's Day because it's a way for our families and staff to give back to our unsheltered friends within the community, serve them a hot meal, and make them feel special about today,' said Jennie Hagerty, executive director of the Mercy Center for Women.
