Hip hop legend Jeezy takes 10-hour Uber ride to make it to own concert after transit nightmare

The show must go on… the road. Hip hop legend Jeezy was forced to take a 10-hour Uber ride from South Carolina to Baltimore to make his concert and avoid disappointing his fans after his multiple flights were canceled. Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, was scheduled to perform at The Lyric Baltimore on Aug. 1, but he was running out of options to get to the venue, having just wrapped up his concert in Atlanta days prior. 5 Jeezy paid an Uber driver to take him from South Carolina to Baltimore. Getty Images 'I woke up to my team informing me that all flights to Baltimore and D.C. had been canceled,' the rapper revealed in an Instagram post on Aug. 4. 'They then told me that my driver was on his way to pick me up, so we could drive to Baltimore for the next stop on the tour. Two hours into our drive, we hit an object on the highway, puncturing the gas tank and causing fuel to leak everywhere.' The 'Soul Survivor's' team then tried to book him a private jet from where the car broke down in South Carolina to Baltimore for his 'A Night of Motivation: Celebrating 20 Years of Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101- LIVE' tour. The artist's team ordered an Uber to take him to the airport as they navigated travel plans. But bad weather grounded the flight and the 'Put On' rapper asked the driver, Tanner, how much he'd charge to take them straight to the show, 10 hours away. 'Let me think about it,' Tanner replied. 5 Tanner, the Uber driver, claimed they only stopped once for gas and food during the entire trip. Instagram 5 Jeezy rode in the back seat of Tanner's red Ford Explorer. @ / TikTok 'I assured him that whatever it was, he'd have it,' Jeezy shared. 'Like real one, he didn't hesitate and just kept driving.' The red Ford Explorer pulled up to the venue ten minutes before the 8 Tanner said he drove the whole way and they made one stop to fuel up on gas and food. 'I told him he made a lot of people happy tonight! Gave him a Snowman Tee and told him he was my guest for the show tonight!' Jeezy shared. 5 Jeezy arrived to his concert with only a few minutes to spare. jeezy/Instagram The four-time Grammy-nominated rapper brought his 'MVP' driver on stage in front of thousands of cheering fans, who gave him a standing ovation. 'I can't make this s–t up,' the rapper told his fans in Baltimore. Jeezy did not reveal how much he paid Tanner for the trip. 'This turned out to be kind of cool and [it] blew up a little bit more than I expected,' Tanner said. 'Big thank you to Jeezy. He was super cool. Very nice dude [and] a genuine guy.' 5 The legendary artist brought Tanner on stage to thank him for the long trip. @ / TikTok Jeezy's fans commended Tanner's professionalism for helping out the rapper. 'Tanner was the MVP! Your team is dope! Way to make it happen!,' one person said. 'Pray you made it (back) home safe. This is what it means to go beyond and above great job Tanner,' another fan said.

Jeezy Given Jail Time Warning For Failing To Comply To Divorce Terms

Jeezy and Jeannie Mai's 2023 divorce is still ongoing as the former couple continues to butt heads with the terms of the split. The latest issue stems from Jeezy 'willfully disobeying' terms within their divorce, which garnered him a 'stern warning' by a Georgia judge. This could potentially lead to jail time if he continues with failing to comply, InTouch reports. During an April 28 hearing, the judge found Jeezy had 'willfully failed' to deliver the title of a 2021 Range Rover to his ex-wife. This was a requirement in their divorce settlement and Mai's attorneys confirmed to the court that Jeezy had cured the issues raised in her petition for contempt. According to the outlet, 'any future failure to comply with the court's order may result in sanctions, which he said could be in the form of incarceration.' The only issue that remained to be addressed was the 'Put On' rapper's previous demand for Mai to pay $20,000 to cover the legal fees that have allegedly accumulated throughout the divorce process. On March 17, Jeezy requested payment from the former The Real host after she accused him of contempt, resulting in him fighting her 'frivolous' accusations and racking up the bill. InTouch reports the judge 'shut down' his demand for attorney fees during the recent hearing. Jeannie Mai and Jeezy got married in March 2021 in an intimate ceremony. They share one daughter together named Monaco Mai Jenkins, 3. Jeezy filed for divorce in October 2023, and the TV host said she was blindsided as she found out he did so at the same time as 'the rest of the world.' Since the filing, the two have been going back-and-forth on the terms of their public split. Since then, the situation snowballed into a series of hurdles. Earlier this year, Mai got the police involved during an incident at Jeezy's residence last month after the rapper allegedly did not allow her to retrieve her things from his Georgia home. The rapper stated he blocked her from entering during the agreed time frame because he was concerned about her having access to his residence and 'no way of knowing if [Jeannie] is planting listening devices or cameras in his home.'
