Trichy: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), Trichy region, on Sunday commissioned seven Ultra-Low Entry (ULE) buses, all originating from the KKBT terminus in Panjapur and connecting three destinations via five city routes.

Of the 25 low-floor buses allocated to Trichy, seven are now in service, three more will be commissioned within a week, and the remaining 15—currently under production—are expected to join the fleet in a month.
A TNSTC official said trial runs on all ULE routes had been completed, along with road and bus stand modifications. "If overloading issues arise, we will analyse and address them to sustain operations," the official said.
Four of the new buses connect Panjapur with Chathiram bus terminus—two via Woraiyur, one via Palakkarai, and one via Thillai Nagar. Two buses run between Panjapur and Samayapuram Mariamman temple via Trichy–Chennai NH (Palpannai and No 1 Tollgate), catering to pilgrims from other districts. One bus links Panjapur and Srirangam via Thillai Nagar.
In total, the seven buses will make 104 trips daily, 60 to Chathiram, 28 to Samayapuram, and 16 to Srirangam. Passengers, especially senior citizens, welcomed the low-floor design, saying it made boarding with luggage easier. "Other buses have steep footboards. Though fares may be higher, those who spend more on autorickshaws may now opt for ULEs," said passenger Puthanampatti N Saravanan.
TNSTC also launched four other services on Sunday, three mofussil buses from KKBT to Kodaikanal via Dindigul, and a city bus from Panjapur to Samayapuram via No 1 Tollgate.
