World's largest rubber duck to splash back into Ohio this weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The world's largest rubber duck is waddling back into Ohio this weekend. Affectionately known as Mama Duck, the inflatable duck standing more than six stories tall is splashing into Put-in-Bay on Friday through Sunday, near the island's south-side airport at the intersection of Langram and Meechen roads. The appearance will mark Mama Duck's second in Ohio after she joined the Hartville Jeep Fest in May. Watch a previous NBC4 report on Mama Duck's first Ohio visit in the video player above. What's included in Ohio's sales tax holiday for 2025 Mama Duck measures 61 feet high, 64 feet wide and 74 feet long, and first made her debut in 2014 to an audience of more than 250,000 in Los Angeles. Since then, she has appeared across the globe, making stops in New York, Chicago, Toronto and more to pose with adoring fans. 'The world's largest rubber duck's mission is to spread happiness and love wherever she goes, and a gentle reminder to enjoy our outdoor spaces wisely, preserving them for many generations to come,' Mama Duck's organizers said in a statement. Frequently accompanying Mama Duck is her 10-foot-tall baby duck, Timmy. However, Timmy is not expected to be joining his mother at Put-in-Bay. The inflatable duck's August visit is being made possible by the Perry Group, a nonprofit organization based on Put-in-Bay supporting Perry's Victory and the International Peace Memorial, the National Park Service site commemorating the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. BBQ joint seen on Food Network to open another central Ohio restaurant The Perry Group is organizing family-friendly games and activities to coincide with Mama Duck's appearance. Fans can also snag a $10 souvenir duck that says, 'Don't Give Up The Ship,' which is a naval battle cry that was written on the flag of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's ship during the Battle of Lake Erie. Mama's other visits this summer have included several stops across Minnesota, an amusement park in Pennsylvania, a motor speedway event in Delaware, a festival in Maryland, a county fair in Washington and an air show in Virginia. As her organizers say, the world is her bathtub. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
