Panel to ensure student safety in minority schools

Nagpur: A special meeting of heads of minority schools, principals, and related officials was held at the Niyojan Bhavan in Nagpur under the chairmanship of Pyare Khan, chairman, Maharashtra State Minority Commission. The meeting issued strict instructions to implement necessary measures and govt resolutions to ensure student safety in schools. Khan stated, "Student safety is the primary responsibility of every school. Within the next 7 days, all minority schools must form mandatory committees and submit a report to the School Education Department, failing which their minority status will be revoked." Referring to the govt resolution dated April 16, 2025, it was clarified that every school must establish a school management committee, women's grievance redressal committee, student safety committee, and physical infrastructure development committee. Khan said, "These committees are essential to bring transparency and accountability to educational institutions. Non-compliance with these directives will not be tolerated." The meeting was attended by Nikhil Bhoyar (Education Officer, Secondary), Sachin Gosavi (Deputy Collector), Sachin Nath (School Superintendent), Prasanjeet Gaikwad (District Child Protection Coordinator), Mushtaq Pathan, and Ganesh Surwase (Minority Commission officials), among others. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Are you ready to conquer a planet? Undo During the meeting, several teachers from Urdu schools lodged serious complaints against school management, including allegations of demanding extra payments beyond salaries, illegal appointments of relatives, and termination of working teachers. Responding to these allegations, Khan remarked, "The complaints raised by the teachers are shocking. A school is a temple of education, not someone's private business. Immediate action should be taken against the guilty." He issued necessary directives to the Education Department in this regard. Several school heads raised issues regarding challenges in the examination process, operational difficulties, and the demand for special funds for minority schools. Responding to these, Pyare Khan assured, "The demands of the principals are entirely justified. I will personally discuss these issues with the Chief Minister and Education Minister to find solutions." Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
