Record-breaking Summer at Katowice Airport

Katowice Airport records best-ever month in July 2025 with 960,878 passengers, driven by growth in both regular and charter flights. The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze S.A. – GTL S.A.) – the company managing Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport in Pyrzowice, Poland – has summarized passenger traffic for the seventh month of 2025. In July 2025, 960,878 passengers traveled to/from Katowice Airport, i.e., 113,468 more (+13.4%) than last year. It was the best month in the airport's history; the previous record for a single month – noted in August 2024, when 866,489 passengers were handled – was surpassed. Last month, 363,703 passengers were carried on regular flights, which are handled by Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Dolomiti/Lufthansa; that's 48,073 passengers more (+15.2%) than in July 2024. 594,243 persons were handled on charter flights, i.e., 66,551 more (+12.6%) than last year. In July 2025, Katowice Airport noted 6,378 aircraft takeoffs and landings, i.e., 780 more (+13.9%) than in 2024. 'The result for July has surpassed our forecasts, which bodes well for market dynamics. Traffic at Katowice Airport will continue to grow, not only in the short term but also in the long term. Wizz Air has announced that it will expand its base in Pyrzowice. Seventh aircraft will be added in spring 2026. The airline will also launch six new routes. In autumn 2025, flights to Porto will commence, while Faro, Brindisi, Maastricht, Lamezia Terme and Brașov will launch in spring 2026,' said Artur Tomasik, President of the Board of The Upper Silesian Aviation Group, the company managing Katowice Airport. From January to the end of July 2025, Katowice Airport served 3,972,174 passengers, i.e., 508,855 more (+14.7%) than last year. Furthermore, Katowice Airport noted 1,942,124 persons on regular flights – 183,082 more (+10.4%) than last year – while 2,006,099 travelers flew on charter flights, i.e., 313,517 more (+18.5%) than in 2024. From January to the end of July 2025, Katowice Airport saw 29,754 aircraft takeoffs and landings, i.e., 2,792 more (+10.4%) than last year. Market position, forecasts Katowice Airport is among the biggest regional airports in Poland. 6.39M passengers traveled via the airport's network of flights in 2024. The forecast for 2025 estimates that 7M passengers will be handled; it will be the best result in the history of Katowice Airport. Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport is the country leader in charter traffic, and one of the biggest cargo airports in Poland.

Katowice Airport recorded its best May ever in 2025, handling 655,818 passengers – a 12.5% increase driven by charter growth. The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze S.A. – GTL S.A.) – the company managing Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport in Pyrzowice, Poland – has summarized passenger traffic for the fifth month of 2025. In May 2025, Katowice Airport handled 655 818 passengers, i.e. 72 707 more (+12.5%) than at the same time last year. It was the best May in the airport's history; the record-breaking result from May 2024, when 583 111 travelers were handled, was surpassed. Last month, the Airport network of regular flights, handled by Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Dolomiti/Lufthansa, resulted in 312 359 passengers being handled; that's 28 994 travelers more (+10.2%) than in May 2024. 342 127 persons flew on charter flights, which are operated for travel agencies; that's 43 938 more (+14.7%) than last year. In May, Katowice Airport saw 4,863 aircraft takeoffs and landings, i.e. 313 more (+6.9%) in comparison with the same time in 2024. 'May was yet another record-breaking month at Katowice Airport. In June, we expect further considerable growth of passenger traffic, both on regular and charter flights. In the former segment, the growth will be spearheaded by Wizz Air's expansion of its base in Katowice. At the beginning of June, the carrier launched three new routes at Katowice Airport: Pisa, Chișinău and Madrid, and added a sixth Airbus A320 family aircraft to its base,' said Artur Tomasik, President of the Board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group, the company managing the Airport. From January to the end of May 2025, Katowice Airport handled 2 171 616 passengers, i.e. 304 884 more (+16.3%) than last year. On 24 May (Saturday), Katowice Airport handled the two-millionth passenger in 2025. Never in the history of the airport have so many passengers been handled so quickly. The record from 2024, when the two-millionth passenger was served on 6 June, was beaten. During the first five months of 2025, the Airport handled 1 246 804 persons on regular flights – 88 325 more (+7.6%) than in 2024 – while 905 154 passengers traveled on charter flights from Pyrzowice, i.e. 202 549 more (+28.8%) than at the same time last year. From January to the end of May 2025, Katowice Airport noted 17 461 aircraft takeoffs and landings, i.e. 1 441 more (+9.0%) than last year.
