HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Punahou Carnival 2025 promises to be an exciting, fun-filled event for the whole family, with something for everyone! This year's theme, Pā'ina Paniolo: A Country Carnival, honors Hawai'i's cowboy (paniolo) heritage and blends it with classic country place on Friday, Feb. 7, and Saturday, Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., it's an event you won't want to miss! The carnival is hosted by the Junior Class of 2026 and is part of a long-standing Punahou tradition dating back to 1932. The event is free to enter, but there are many exciting activities and food booths that require the purchase of scrip (carnival tickets) via credit, debit or Apple Pay. Visit the art gallery: Hawai'i's largest art gallery showcases more than 1,000 pieces by nearly 300 local artists. It's a great chance to appreciate and support the island's creative community. Shop for treasures at the White Elephant: The White Elephant booth is a must-see! You can find unique, secondhand items, from vintage treasures to hidden gems. A timed-entry system helps manage the busy crowd in the first few hours, so plan accordingly! Enjoy Hawaiian Plate with live music: Treat yourself to delicious Hawaiian food, like laulau and poi, all while enjoying free live Hawaiian music at Dole Hall. It's the perfect spot to relax and soak in the carnival's festive atmosphere. Savor fresh malasadas: A Punahou Carnival tradition, malasadas are a crowd favorite. These sweet, deep-fried treats are rolled in sugar, with 120,000 malasadas sold annually! Bid in the Silent Auction: The Silent Auction features a variety of amazing items, including art, gift certificates and experiences. Bid on something special while supporting the school's financial aid program. Take a ride on E.K. Fernandez Thrill Rides: For thrill-seekers, the carnival offers exciting rides like Zero Gravity, Seven Seas and Jungle Twist. There are also family-friendly keiki rides and games for younger keiki. Try your luck at carnival games: Play fun carnival games and win cool prizes! You can try your hand at classic games like ring toss, dart throws and more. It's a great way to challenge your friends or family! Create or buy a Haku Lei: Haku lei, traditional Hawaiian flower crowns, are a lovely souvenir or gift. Volunteers make them, and you can purchase one to wear while enjoying the event. Warm up with Portuguese bean soup: This beloved dish moves to Dole Hall this year, bringing comfort and warmth to the carnival-goers. Don't forget to grab a bowl of this savory soup! Support the fundraiser for financial aid: All proceeds from the carnival go toward Punahou's financial aid program that helps nearly 700 students receive need-based support. HONOLULU (KHON2) — Grab your cowboy hats and boots! Dates for the Punahou Carnival have been announced and it's a country experience you won't want to School's Junior Class of 2026 will host Pā'ina Paniolo: A Country Carnival on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The theme pays tribute to 'Hawai'i's paniolo (cowboy) heritage, blending the spirit of the islands with classic country charm.' Free plant show to take root in Kona E.K Fernandez will provide carnival rides for all ages and thrill levels, including Seven Seas and Zero Gravity. Carnival-goers can also expect a variety of classic carnival games from E.K. Fernandez and Punahou School as well. If rides and games aren't your cup of tea, the event will feature local food favorites, fresh malasadas and mango chutney. Other activities include the Punahou Carnival 2025 Art Gallery and Jewelry Sale, silent auction and white elephant treasures. Admission to the carnival is free and all proceeds 'will support Punahou School's need-based financial aid program, benefiting nearly 700 students.'
