Shakib, Rajapaksa join Lahore Qalandars for remainder of PSL 10
Lahore Qalandars have bolstered their squad for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League season 10 with the inclusion of Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Sri Lankan batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Shakib, who joins on May 17 in Islamabad, will replace New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell, ruled out due to a hand injury sustained on May 4. With over 7,400 T20 runs and 492 wickets, Shakib brings vast experience and all-round strength as Qalandars eye the knockout stage. Meanwhile, Rajapaksa will replace England's Tom Curran, who has returned home following an ankle injury. Foreign players likely to rejoin remaining matches of HBL-PSL-X Known for his power-hitting and a T20 strike rate above 140, Rajapaksa is expected to add middle-order firepower. His wicketkeeping skills offer added depth to the squad. 'We will plan carefully against Amir'
Lahore Qalandars' aggressive opener Fakhar Zaman on Monday, praised Quetta Gladiators' Mohammad Amir as an 'excellent' bowler and vowed to sharpen his team's tactics when they face him on the field on May 1. Speaking to the media here on Monday, Fakhar underscored Amir's ability to excel in any bowling condition and stressed that beating him will require a full-team effort rather than reliance on a single star. "Everyone knows Amir's class - he is a top-quality bowler who performs well in all conditions," Fakhar said. "We will plan carefully on match day and execute our strategy. But in cricket, one player alone cannot win for his side." Fakhar also expressed satisfaction with his team's performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 thus far, stating that they are happy with the direction the two-time champions are heading. "We have won three and lost three. In cricket, no matter how much you achieve, you are never fully satisfied. We are happy with the direction our team is heading," said Fakhar. "We are giving every opponent a tough time and our players know how to turn the game around. Winning and losing are part of the sport, but we remain positive," he added. He also welcomed the grassy pitches at the Gaddafi Stadium, arguing that seam and bounce are essential to maintain balance between bat and ball. "Flat tracks leave the ball low, yet teams still manage 170180 runs, so the issue was not big. These grass-covered wickets will help bowlers and ultimately strengthen our cricket," he explained. Fakhar added that such wickets favour the Qalandars' strengths since their attack is built around fast bowling. "When you play many matches on the same surface, you adapt fast. We are fired up and ready to deliver in Lahore," he added. Fakhar praised the fans for their unwavering support. "It is great that wherever the Qalandars playKarachi, Rawalpindi or Lahorethe crowds come out to watch us. Their support means a lot to us," he thanked.

Dubai: Skipper Babar Azam and Hussain Talat struck unbeaten half-centuries to guide Peshawar Zalmi to a seven-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars in their Pakistan Super League clash at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday. Surviving early scare Chasing 130, Zalmi were rocked early, losing three wickets inside five overs to an inspired opening burst from Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf. At 40 for 3, the visitors looked vulnerable — but Babar and Talat calmly turned the tide with an unbroken 93-run stand for the fourth wicket, sealing victory with 20 balls to spare. Earlier, Alzarri Joseph and Luke Wood tore through the Qalandars' top order after they were asked to bat, reducing them to 21 for 4. Only Sikandar Raza showed resistance, scoring a gritty 52 off 37 balls. His knock, along with some lower-order resilience, helped the hosts post 129 — a total that looked below par but briefly threatened to test Zalmi. Babar survived a close LBW call in the final over of the Powerplay — overturned by DRS — before regaining control with a trademark drive through third. That moment marked a shift in momentum as the Qalandars' intensity waned. Talat, not known for brute power, found his rhythm under no scoreboard pressure. After Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars also appoint new head coach for PSL 10
Lahore Qalandars have named Russell Domingo as their new head coach ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, replacing Darren Gough, who stepped down due to personal commitments. The announcement comes after Karachi Kings also revealed on Friday the appointment of former England all-rounder Ravi Bopara as head coach for the 10th edition of the league. Domingo, a seasoned coach with vast international experience, previously led South Africa's national team and Bangladesh's men's team. Known for his tactical expertise and his ability to develop young talent, his appointment fits perfectly with the Qalandars' goal of building a competitive and dynamic squad for the upcoming season. "I am really excited to be part of the Lahore Qalandars for the 2025 PSL season. I can't wait to get to work, meet the players, and start preparations for what promises to be an exciting campaign.
