20 years after Israel's withdrawal from Gaza, colonial far right's revenge
It was 20 years ago. Between Aug. 15 and Sept. 12, 2005, around 1,000 holdouts among the approximately 8,000 Jewish settlers — men, women and children, mostly religious fundamentalists who believed their presence in Gaza was a divine mission — were forcibly removed from their homes by the Israeli army, with tears and Gush Katif settlement, consisting of 21 colonies spread across the strip of land conquered during the Six-Day War, had become too costly in security terms for Israel during the second intifada (2000-2005).An increased military presence was necessary to defend this group of homes — illegal under international law, frequently targeted by Qassam rocket attacks, and viewed by many in the Israeli public as a cause of the suicide bombings that killed people on buses in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Qassam announces ambush on 'Israeli' forces in Rafah
Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced a series of attacks on 'Israeli' forces in the eastern part of Rafah city, south of the Gaza Strip, on Tuesday, as part of their ongoing campaign dubbed 'Gates of Hell.' In a statement, the group said its fighters successfully lured a 10-member 'Israeli' ground force—accompanied by two military dogs—into a pre-planned ambush near the al-Mashru junction. The ambush site had been rigged with multiple explosive devices which were detonated upon the unit's arrival, resulting in a number of 'Israeli' casualties. The group added that they observed 'Israeli' helicopters landing in the area to evacuate the wounded. Clashes reportedly continued in the vicinity at the time of the announcement. In a separate but simultaneous operation, Qassam fighters said they targeted an 'Israeli' force sheltering inside a house near the same junction with two TBG anti-armor shells. The fighters claimed they inflicted additional casualties before storming the house and engaging in close-quarter combat, killing the remaining 'Israeli' soldiers using light weapons.

Qassam Brigades announce ambush of six 'Israeli' soldiers in Rafah
Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released a statement today, Sunday, detailing a series of successful operations against 'Israeli' forces in Gaza on Saturday. The operation began with a complex ambush targeting an 'Israeli' engineering unit. Qassam fighters reportedly lured the unit to a previously planted explosive tunnel, where they engaged in close-quarters combat, killing several 'Israeli' soldiers. They then detonated the tunnel, causing casualties among the soldiers, both dead and wounded. After the tunnel explosion, Qassam fighters advanced and targeted two 'Israeli' tanks with "Yassin 105" missiles. They claim to have observed 'Israeli' forces recovering the bodies of the deceased and evacuating the wounded from the area near the al-Zahraa Mosque in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
