Divyam Sodhi, Khwaab reimagine Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's legacy with soulful new track ‘Nit Khair'
Rising musical talents Divyam Sodhi and Khwaab are set to release Nit Khair, a powerful reinterpretation of the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's classic ghazal. The track is a delicate yet daring fusion of traditional Qawwali and contemporary ambient production, creating a hauntingly beautiful experience that resonates with both claassical purists and modern music enthusiasts. Rooted deeply in reverence for the original, Nit Khair captures the emotional depth of Nusrat Saab's iconic composition while infusing it with fresh textures. Divyam Sodhi's soulful vocals bring a raw and expressive edge, while producer Khwaab layers the soundscape with lush, atmospheric elements that feel grounded yet current. 'This is our tribute to where we come from — musically and culturally,' said Divyam. 'We grew up with qawwalis echoing through summer afternoons. This song is an attempt to bring that same soul into a modern setting without losing its essence.' Khwaab echoed the sentiment: 'We didn't want to modernize the original. We wanted to reinterpret it — to find emotional continuity between tradition and today's sonic landscape.' The music video, releasing alongside the track, enhances this blend of nostalgia and modernity. Shot on a sun-soaked terrace, the visuals move from quiet solitude to vibrant community life, showcasing people laying out papad, pickles, mangoes, and chilies. It becomes a visual metaphor for cultural memory — intimate, textured, and full of life. With its rich storytelling and emotionally charged execution, Nit Khair is already generating buzz across social media. Poised to be a standout indie release, the track not only pays homage to a musical legend but also introduces a new voice and vision for the next generation of Indian music lovers.

Three dead in gun attack on bus carrying Qawwali ensemble
Listen to article At least three people were martyred, while seven others sustained injuries in a deadly gun attack on a passenger coach near Niemurgh Cross in the Kalat district of Balochistan on Wednesday, local officials and the provincial government spokesperson confirmed. The deceased, all belonging to a Qawwali group from Karachi were heading to the Balochistan capital to perform in an event there. The provincial government officials accused the Fitna al-Hindustan — the Indian proxy insurgents — for the indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians. Elsewhere in the province, a security force officer was martyred, while three Indian proxy terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Awaran district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release. The bus attack came after last week's similar assault in the Loralai district, in which nine passengers were abducted and shot dead after their identity check by terrorists. That attack was claimed by an India-backed Baloch terrorist outfit. The officials said that the passenger bus came under fire from unidentified armed men, while it was traveling from Karachi to Quetta, adding that the police and rescue teams responded immediately, and shifted the victims to a hospital and began search operations for the perpetrators. "The injured are being provided medical assistance at the DHQ [District Headquarters] Hospital in Kalat," Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said in a statement. "Security personnel are present at the location, and investigation is in progress," he added. Though there was no immediate confirmation of the identities of the victims from the Balochistan government officials, sources in Karachi said that they were part of the 15-member group, and were travelling to Quetta for a Qawwali performance. The sources said that the victims belonged to the Majid Ali Sabri group, based in Karachi's Pir Illahi Bux Colony. In a social media post, a group member, Nadeem, was heard saying that the attack happened when they were about 45 minutes of drive away from their destination. The man was heard as saying that three members of the group had died because of the firing and many others were injured. "What was our fault? We are the people who perform Qawwali and recite Naat Sharif," the man said in the viral video. It is learnt that Majid Ali Sabri group were not related to famous Sabri Brothers — Ghulam Farid Sabri and Maqbool Sabri. Talha Sabri, son of Ghulam Farid Sabri and younger brother another famous Qawwal of the family, Amjad Sabri, said that the victims were not related the Sabri Qawwal family. "Majid Ali and Nadeem Ali, who are the victims of the tragic incident, belong to a Qawwal family. We pray for Allah's mercy on those, who died in the tragedy and the quick recovery of those who sustained injuries," Talha Sabri told The Express Tribune. The motive behind the Kalat assault remains unclear, but Balochistan has been gripped by a deadly violence, being carried out by insurgent groups, which are supported by the India. Last week, Fitna-e-Hindustan terrorists killed at least nine bus passengers after checking their identities in Loralai. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti accused the Fitna-e-Hindustan for the cowardly attack on the innocent civilians. "The attack on a passenger coach in Kalat is a cowardly and despicable act of terrorism. The loss of precious lives is an irreparable loss," he said in a post on X. "The terrorist organizations of Fitna-al Hind, which earlier gave the impression of attacks based on identity, are now targeting civilians indiscriminately, which clearly shows that this war is against every Pakistani," he added. "We will foil it at all costs!" Condemnations pour in President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed their deep sorrow over the martyrdom of innocent civilians. The president said that terrorists wanted to disrupt peace and stability in the province because they were the enemies of humanity. "The terrorists who harm the lives and property of innocent and unarmed civilians will have to pay a very heavy price," The Prime Minister Office Media Wing quoted Prime Minister Shehbaz in a press release, as saying The president and the prime minister reaffirmed that the government and the security forces were fully determined to eliminate terrorism from the country. "With the support of the nation, we will eradicate the cancer of terrorism from the country," Zardari said, according to President Secretariat Press Wing. Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack by Fitna-ul-Hindustan terrorists on a passenger bus. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also condemned the terrorist attack, terming it "a very barbaric act". Awaran IBO Meanwhile, the ISPR, the media wing of the military, said in a press release that an officer was martyred, while three Indian proxy terrorists were killed in an IBO, which was carried out in the Awaran district on the reported presence of the terrorists, belonging to Indian Proxy Fitna al Hindustan. "During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorist location and resultantly, three Indian sponsored terrorists were sent to hell," it said. "However, during the intense fire exchange, Major Syed Rabnawaz Tariq (age: 34 years, resident of District Muzafarabad), a brave officer who was leading his troops from the front, fought gallantly and paid the ultimate sacrifice," it added. The ISPR said that sanitisation operation was being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area, as "the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian Sponsored Terrorism from the country, and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve". Sagar Wali Qawwali Casts A Musical Spell On Mumbai With Sufi Soul And Sonic
Last Updated: As part of India's grandest Qawwali tour, Sagar Wali Qawwali took over the iconic NSCI Dome in Mumbai. The musical night was the city's biggest Qawwali night in recent memory. When Sagar Bhatia steps on stage, it's more than a performance – it's a spiritual invocation. And yesterday, Mumbai witnessed that magic in full force as Sagar Wali Qawwali took over the iconic NSCI Dome in what became the city's biggest Qawwali night in recent memory. The Delhi boy didn't just sing – he owned the city with his soulful, energetic set that had the crowd on its feet from the first note to the final bow. It was a housefull show, and Mumbai showed up in full spirit for the new-age Qawwal who is taking the sufi and Qawwali scene to the next level. From the moment Sagar stepped on stage till the moment he sat in his car post-show, the atmosphere was energy pro max. Not only did he sing with heart, but he danced, hugged fans, walked into the crowd, gifted fans personalised stoles, and Sagar Wali Qawwali t-shirts – turning every moment into an unforgettable fan celebration. At one point during the show, Sagar recited a sher that struck a chord with many hearts: 'Yeh wala Ranjha alag hai, is Ranjhe ko bhi Heer ne chhoda hai… Fir uske baad humne banayi Sagar Wali Qawwali, dil ke saare khwaab jitne bhi the, sab bata diye." The audience responded with thunderous applause and cheers because, in that moment, they weren't just witnessing an artist; they were connecting with a storyteller. He paused mid-performance to speak straight from the heart. With emotion in his voice, Sagar said, 'Whatever I have done and earned is because of your blessings, your claps, and your cheers. People tell me I should start merchandising Sagar Wali Qawwali t-shirts – but I tell them this is not a business. This is my token of love. I want to throw them to as many people as I can, wherever they reach, let them be blessings. Life is so unpredictable… The incident that happened two days ago – I still haven't been able to come out of it. God bless the souls. Whatever I am, it's because of you. Keep loving me. Loving me is your right, scolding me is also your right. You all are my everything." He, then, sang 'Mera Zism Mera Imaan Bhi Tu", and it felt like the whole dome sang it with him. Another standout surprise came when Sagar performed 'Insaaf kardo, mujhe maaf kardo… Dil de diya hai" – a track fans didn't expect to hear. The dome exploded with excitement as the melody took over, cementing the night as unforgettable. A truly special moment of the night was also when Sagar thanked singer-composer Vishal Mishra for his beautiful song 'Pehle Bhi Main" – and then performed a stunning Qawwali version of the track. The crowd erupted. Fans screamed, danced, sang every word, often even before Sagar could complete the verse himself. Currently on India's grandest Qawwali tour, Sagar delivered a stirring, soul-soaked set that transcended genres, generations, and geographies. Dressed in a classic black kurta and accompanied by an ensemble of masterful musicians, he brought to life a mehfil that felt both intimate and monumental. The night was a mesmerising blend of timeless Sufi kalams, fresh reinterpretations, and his crowd-favourite originals. Each rendition was met with roaring cheers, tearful smiles, and thousands of voices rising in unison. As part of India's grandest Qawwali tour, the journey doesn't stop here. Up next: Bangalore (June 21), Jaipur (June 22), and Indore (June 28). Each city is poised to witness the same sonic storm and sufi soul that lit up Mumbai. Because one thing is certain: Sagar Bhatia isn't just reviving Qawwali – he's redefining it for a new generation.
